BQ: When you were able to eat normal food again, how long did it take? and what was your first normal meal you had?

My Bariatric Team says YES.  You can have what you want during purees but it has to  go thru a wire mesh strainer -- no distinct pieces of food.

Still I recommend asking your own surgeon or nutritionist.

You can puree just about anything but rocks, and I am not that sure of that. I had a month of eating that stuff that looked like cat food, but did not taste like it.

I never had pureed foods - I had three weeks of liquids only. BLECK - then progressed to soft foods.  Anything that was fork tender.  Now I am 10 weeks and can eat most foods as long as I chew well and take small bites.  I had chicken cordon bleu tonight with out any problems.  I know a lot of people struggle with chicken, but I do not.  You just have to take it slowly.

The first 5 weeks were tough.

The last 5 have been 10 times better.

Chili was the earliest "normal" thing I ate.

Best of luck.

Egg salad is one of the first foods I plan on eating when I get to the puréed stage.  Followed closely by refried beans.  Sounds delicious to me.

i am only 11 days post op, so I have a few more weeks of full liquids...

good luck

I go to my nutritionist appointment and she will be teaching us how to eat from here on out. I knew I could eat refried beans starting tomorrow so I tried a small portion tonight. It was sooooo good and I tolerated it very well!! SOOOO YUMMY!!!
