I had my surgery on 4/8 and did the swallow test 4/9 and it showed no leaks but it took a long time to go down because of the swelling i guess. So they send me to my room and I started throwing up for a day and a half. So from 4/9 to 4/10. Then when I went 24hrs without throwing up they gave me water on 4/11 and sipped 3 messauring cups an hr. I didn't progress to jello and broth until 4/12 when they discharged me.  So since 4/12 to now 4/15 I have been eating sf jello, propel water, ice chips, and having isopure. Well I have had a few boughts of loose stool so i checked the back of the isopure bottle and it contains whey (milk) and I am lactose intollerent. So I called my doctor and told him that and he was surprised I was drinking a protien shake cause he didn't tell me to!!! And he told me to stop! So I did.  I am starting to become a little dizzy and lightheaded/ What can I do to keep myself from feeling this? I can only drink so much water, eat so much jello and dispise the taste of broth! Grrrr.... what else can I do? And if i am correct I have another week of this clear liquids....... I am seeing everyone who has had surgery after me either of a full liquid diet and or on pureed foods...... or soft foods...... what should i do?

Talk to your Doctor or nutritionist, it seems from the postings on here that there is a lot of different post op plans.  My Doctor required clear liquids for 5 days, I am now on full liquids whi*****ludes sf jello, yogurt (no fruit chunks), broth, cream soup and cream of wheat.  21 days post op I will be able to move to puréed foods, yeah!

I hope things get better for you soon.

Have you tried what I call amped up broth, buy regular chicken noodle and strain it and just drink the broth? To me it was far better than plain broth.
