Mashed Potatoes, Eggs, Eggs, Mashed Potatoes.......
Two weeks out from surgery I graduated to mushy foods with the goal of getting at least 70g of protein daily. 3oz of canned chicken mixed with a little fat-free mayo, mustard, and a sprinkle of celery salt became quite a routine. Also greek yogurt mixed with sugar-free syrups or chicken bouillon were almost a daily meal. I tried tuna too but it wasn't my friend. If I made my protein and liquid goals I sometimes had a sugar-free pudding but that was seldom as I had a hard time finding room. My dietician demanded I not have any veggies or starches until I was further along. Two months out I'm opened up to all veggies now with a warning to avoid or at least highly limit starches. I still have a hard time finding room after the protein but I admit a raw veggie snack between meals is nice.
I figure with all the rules if I'm going to break one, it better be worth my while. I was also no-noed on coffee but the dietician flexed and said as long as I stayed above my 64 oz liquids (not including coffee), I can have it. Needless to say as a pacific north-westerner with a coffee shop on every corner, I'm an addict. Lol, no dehydration issues with me! :-)
Watch the advice you get on the internet, honestly I am still shocked by the misinformation even here. That said, fat free cheese exists and in many applications works well, it doesn't melt all gooey like a grill cheese sandwich but is a fav of mine in many dishes. Personally I would skip anything that isn't a source of protein now, and my favorite soft food was fat free cream cheese whipped with fat free cool whip sweetened to taste with splenda, I even used this as a dip for fruit when I started eating fruit. Fat free cream cheese has more protein then regular and reduced fat cream cheese does per tablespoon. Also you can have reduced fat ricotta, and fat free or reduced fat mozzarella with a little parmesan cheese, heated together with some spaghetti sauce. It's like a healthy version of the inside of a calzone. It is best to learn to love fat free and reduced fat cheese now and keep it in your diet as it saves ****loads of calories over time. I have lots of applications for fat free cheese, and I still use it at goal eight years later. You need to learn healthy eating now, and keep with it forever.
I never knew FF cream cheese had more protein than regular !! So cool !!!

The FF also has more sodium and more carbs than the regular. Not so cool.

You asking about crackers sounds like you're not serious about this weight loss. You shouldn't be allowed any carbs or sugar. Carbs fill your stomach with empty calories and leaves no room for the protein your new body needs.
On the soft food diet you can also skip the actual food and just drink protein drinks. I mostly did that.

I don't think this poster asking about crackers makes them any less serious. That seems pretty har**** just sounds like they need to get more information.
Personally, I would eliminate the potatoes and crackers and stick with protein, eggs, tuna, chicken, beans, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt... Stuff like that.
I decided to not eat carbs, even though they were on my plan, cause I know that that's I'd my downfall. I will rarely (& I mean very rarely) eat something that is a carb. I had a graham cracker this weekend. Well, half a graham craker. Wasn't as good as I remembered though...
