I am 4 weeks post op and doing pretty good with that part of it. I have rheumatoid arthritis and I am having a really bad flare up. Does anyone else who has an auto immune disease have flare ups right after their surgery? My joints are killing me. My knees are the worse, which makes exercising a chore ( i love to walk).

BTW, I didn't take a lot of nsaids before my surgery. Maybe an aleve or advil when my RA was acting up. I am on enbrel for my RA. I had to stop taking it for several weeks. I started back taking it 2 weeks after my surgery. In the past week I started having this flare up.

I have MS, & surgery is one common trigger for relapses. I've been lucky & have not had an issue so far. I used to take a boatload of ibuprofen for various joint & muscle pain, some MS related, some not. The aches & pains have not been as bad post op, but I'm not back to work yet. Anyway, Now I use only Tylenol. Have you thought about pool walking/exercise/aerobics? Takes the strain off joints. I'm loving it!

I have lupus, and it likes to be difficult when there's a situation around. You could do yourself a favor and check in with your rheumatologist. He or she may have a good idea about what will cause your RA to go off on you like that. Good luck!
