Anyone else getting tired of their soft foods diet?
My doctor gives his patients a Bariatric Nutrition Manual and lists the diet in stages. The soft foods listed in the manual are: unsweetened applesauce, eggs, canned fruit in water (drained and rinsed) soft-cooked vegetables, fat-free cottage cheese, tuna or chicken salad (with fat-free mayonnaise and mustard), yogurt and tofu. I can also have the stage 2 foods: vegetable juice, low-fat sugar free pudding, sugar free popsicles, smooth creamed soups, cooked cereal. I don't get to eat mashed potatoes or rice. Hope this gives you an idea of what a soft diet is like. I also have to continue to drink the protein shakes.

I am one who typically says follow your docs plan you chose him for a reason, however, I just can't say that here with rice and potato and so little protein. What is his protein goal for you and how are you supposed to meet it? I'd call the office and ask that question, then I'd ditch the rice and potatoes and start eating protein regardless of what they said but that's just me i'm a strong advocate for myself and my health.
I was only allowed meat, cheese, egg, and protein shakes made with water for the first 3 mo. 3 meals, no snacks. To reach my goal I couldn't eat much else anyway.
