I am on day 3 of my pre op diet. It consist of 3 shakes and 2 WW meals or lean cuisine. I feel that those have too many carbs??? Or I can eat 2 meals that consist of 3 oz lean meat and green salad and veggie. Which is what I have been doing. why would they recommend eating that **** It's nasty and processed. I go May 13th for surgery.

I don't understand it either.  WW and Lean Cuisine meals have too many carbs for my liking.  The are also high in sodium.  What you are doing with the 2 meals is what I was instructed to do for my pre-op diet.

Wishing you the best on the pre-op and surgery!

WOW, seems good to me. My pre op diet for the 2 weeks before surgery, was ONLY protein shakes !  and the 2 or 3 days right before my surgery was clear liquids!  I thought I would die, but I made it..... it really helped me prepare for after the surgery... my surgeon was very strict, so I came home to a 2 week liquid diet, then 10 days of full liquids, then 2 weeks of slider/soft foods, then about 6 weeks, I could start the very easy, soft foods... and no salad for about 2 months after surgery.... but I havent gotten sick or thrown up like alot of other people have, so maybe he was on to something..... Good luck with your surgery, I assure you, it is ALL worth it!!

My surgery is scheduled for May 14.  On a very similar pre op diet, 2 weeks down and 2 more to go.  You may be surprised what you find yourself craving after a week of basically just protein.  Maybe because I have to do this for a month, I am grateful that I can have something different then just small piece of lean meat and veggies.  However, I do select my meals carefully.  Also, for those of us who do not always have accessibility to the lean meat, a frozen meal is a quick fix between work and school.  Best of luck!

Girrrrrrrrrrrrl, don't complain about them making you EAT FOOD on a pre-op diet. hahaha

I actually think some of the lean cuisine meals are great! You just have to look at the nutritional info and pick the best ones :) The steamers are usually pretty good.

That is kind of an awesome pre-op diet. If you were on ALL liquids, you would really be mad.

I'm 6 days before surgery. My surgeon said they just want low carb, high protien. They did say you could have two light frozen meals a day with avoiding the starches, and a protien shake. But they just wanted to make it easier for us and when I talked with my nurse practitioner she said as long as it was protien forward and low carb.

I have been eating a protien shake, a salad with mostly protien no carb or lean cuisine for the rest of my meals.

Every plan is different though. Good luck!
