My only suggestion is the doctor will ask you if you have any questions....your mind will go blank. Write the questions down as you think of them - is there a hernia to be fixed, gallbladder? What about your hospital stay? I just finished mine - came home yesterday.
You should ask how they want you to sleep afterwards - what position. I can only sleep sitting up currently. I found that out through trial and error. If there's a nurse on staff who went through this - they are the best to talk to.
