Anither D3 question

I wonder why he disagrees with the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, which says we CAN absorb vitamins in pill form?  I also wonder why I don't have thiamin, B6, folate, vitamin A, vitamin K, vitamin D, zinc, copper, and selenium deficiencies, since I take ALL mu vitamins in pill form and have done so for at least four years now?  Yet, I get labs done every since months and all those things are FINE.  Curious, huh?

Your surgeon sounds like an ass.  He also sounds like he's uneducated when it comes to nutrition.  He ought to at least take a few minutes to read the ASMBS guidelines.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

Thanks Kelly and Lora.  I don't feel much better this morning but I did lose half a pound.  I think anger burned it off last night.  He is a fantastic surgeon but not such a fantastic human being I guess.  He said I was eating 2150 calories per day to make this weight loss stop where it is. So I miscalculated my calories by 1300 per day.  I am not a genius by any means but I can log food into myfitnesspal accurately and not miss by 1300 per day.  Anyway onward and upward.  I don't go back for 3 months thank goodness but I won't be over it by then either.  I just hope I have a good weight loss to throw around.  And I am buying what you guys tell me to in PILL form.  I looked at the Celebrate and it lists b12 at 5833 so he was close to right about 6000 times the dose. Rats!  But if we don't absorb it who cares.  I did get my lab slip altered to include the additional things Kelly has tested for - vitamins and PHT.

i just need to get this thing right.  Sorry for all the questions but as you can see I am working from a disadvantage here.  There is a class offered called Bari and Beyond for post ops which deals with nutrition and vitamins,  I am signing up today!  Also this hospital has a deal with Celebrate as they have a little Celebrate store off the main hallway where they sell all their stuff and a Celebrate rep comes at times to chat up the support groups that meet there. In one of the support meeting one of the girls called this doc "a maniac" and now I guess I know why.  Maybe she was accused of not logging her food properly also.  I will ask her next time I see her.

Thanks again.....it is never easy is it.  But remember "we can do hard things".....
