Am I eating too Much?

So I had a cup of chicken for lunch. It was a Chicken Salad with a vinegar based dressing (no mayo) with artichokes, tomatoes, and olives in it. I had my surgery March 13th. Should I be worried that I can eat a cup of food this soon after surgery? Other things I can NOT eat as much of. This was really moist chicken that I cooked on the bone, last night I could only have about 4 or 5 peices of shrimp....So it does vary. Any advice would be great. Im supposed to focus on proteins first and then If im not full after a few ounces can add a vegetable.

It sounds like you ate a cup of a bunch of stuff, not just chicken so I would say that's not bad. If it was just a cup of chicken plus the other stuff that may be a bit much. And you are right, it depends on what you eat. I can eat 4oz of chicken and a couple ounces of a veggie or some applesauce. Depending on how many veggies or how much applesauce, sometimes I cannot finish that. I always make sure to finish my protein first. I do dabble in the fruit/veggie throughout the meal but all protein is finished unless I put too much of that on my plate. I think you're doing okay. I am 2 weeks after you.

Yeah, it was a cup total of the tomatoes and artichokes and chicken, and I didnt pack it tight i just scooped it out with a measuring cup and put it in a bowl. It really does vary.

Well, what, (or how much) does your plan say you should be eating at this point? I was eating about 1/4 cup at that point and measuring everything. If it says you can eat a cup, then ,erasure that out, but if it says less, keep measuring the a,pint you should be eating. Remember, just because you can eat that much, doesn't mean you should.

I can eat that much too (my surgery was March 19.) Some days I can't get meat to go down so well, other days I wonder if I ever really had surgery. Never feel "full". But also not really hungry.

I agree with dee. Do what your plan says. Mine said 2-2.5 oz and that's all I tried to eat. Couldn't always get it in, but I only ate dense protein. I can just now get close to a cup, ofmeat sauce. Everything else is 4-5 oz. follow your plan and measure accordingly
