NSV and travel challenges

I'm in Orlando this week doing some training at the Disney Institute. I planned ahead and packed protein powder and protein bars for breakfasts, snacks and lunches if needed. All was fine until we all went to magic kingdom after today's sessions and the fast places we picked out to eat either had hour long lines or were closed! So, everyone decided on hot dogs. Well, I had to eat, hadn't planned on not being able to eat a burger or grilled chicken so ended up eating about an inch of hot dog without the skin and a couple of fries. I know, lousy food choices, but this is my life and sometimes I just have to make do. Unfortunately, as my PCP and I discussed, travel isn't an exception for me, it's my week to week norm and, as much as I plan, life is going to throw me some curveballs.

The good news is , we went on space mountain (haven't fit during my last two visits), big thunder mountain, dumbo, pirates of the Caribbean, splash mountain and the haunted house, all in less than 4 hours. And we watched the fireworks standing up! I fit comfortably in all of the seats, wasn't super embarrassed about the pictures they take during the ride, was on my feet the entire time except when sitting on the ride itself and never got tired, in fact, I outlasted most of the group over the 4 hours we were in the park. When I got back to the hotel, my fitbit stated I had walked over 6 miles.

This is not the easy way out. But tonight reinforced, once again, that this was the right decision for me!

It'll be 8 days when I get home from my previous weighin, I am curious to see what changes happen with all of the walking I have done this week.

Given the situation today I'd say you did just fine and you don't mention becoming ill, so it was all good :)   I always have a couple protein  bars in my purse (they get kinda beat up looking but they taste fine)  in case I get caught somewhere and need to eat when the options are poor.   That way the choice is mine....and I don't always go for the protein bar...I'm human, lol.

I feel for you because I travel for work quite a bit also.  I was recently in Afghanistan for a few weeks and I have to say they have very little vegetarian protein foods there.  I brought some Mega Whey shots and protein bars with me, and I'd get on base each day to get a couple yogurts from the mess hall.  It was hard to find decent food though when they eat meat, rice, and nan.

It was good to get on an airplane and have the seat be roomy with such a long trip.

My surgery is next Tuesday and already the trips for training for work are being scheduled.. This makes me a little nervous. I was so proud of myself yesterday when I was contacted about scheduling a hotel room and I told them that I melded a mini fridge in the room. That is so not like me. Anyway I am already trying to plan my trips (food) so I do not get caught off guard too often. I really think that in the situation you were in you did great!

Rats always a good plan. And even though most hotels have some kind of drinks for sale, they rarely have milk so if you use it in your protein shakes, stop at. Convenience store on the way.

I'm sorry --- rats?

I'm very fond of them, actually, but didn't understand the context......autocorrect?
