Very very severe constipation what can I do?
Have you tried drinking coffee? That works for me.
Edited: I just noticed how early out you are. Coffee may not be a good idea.

I know the pain, hemmorroids are not friendly, I drink tons and I mean tons of water and unsweetened iced tea with lemon every day, I don't get constipated, thankfully, very often. See if you can drink weak tea, they have a smooth move tea that they actually make to help you go. But you have to drink more, lots more, even if it seems like all you do is drink water it will help.
Sorry you are going through this.
Good Luck!
You are definitely suffering. Have you talked to your doctor yet about this? You are taking high powered stuff, but they may let you take something even stronger. One good thing is that it does get better. I'm still not quite regular like before surgery, but I don't spend all day on the toilet trying to go like I did before. I take Fiber Choice (8 a day) to help keep me regular, sometimes I still need stool softeners or laxatives in addition. Try hot bath for the bum, keep preparation H wipes and ointment on hand. It helps to exercise. It helped get things moving whenever I used the treadmill. I hope you get past this stage soon. Make sure your doctor is aware how much trouble you are having.
You must find a way to get in more liquids...get hydrated because the miralax can't bring the water into the intestines to help move out the stool if you don't have excess water to spare. Taking a bath or sitz bath is a good suggestion too. Another thing, you may need to add some fat back into your diet.... fats help lubricate the digested food a bit and make it easier as well. When I have had bad experiences I not only have to go to the meds, but I have to back off on protein powders and try to get my protein in via more natural states (meat, eggs, etc.) because these are not as processed and have natural fats in them as well. I have had success by mixing avacado and salsa into my eggs to improve my fats. I also find that cheese can't be a major part of my diet when I'm dealing with constipation, cheese and other dairy can be very binding. I know you are early out and some of these suggesitons might not be ideal, but I do know how miserable the severe constipation can be. BEst of luck.
Well since you seem to be 8 weeks out post op, if I am counting right?? Have you asked your Doctor if Activia yogurt might be helpful??, Yogurt itself has helped me in the past. Olive oil might help, Maybe taking some Omega 3's with allot of water to keep hydrated. I always had issues with the other way, not too much with the constipation, but I did have the roids and they are painful! Preparation H wipes and cream are Godsends as someone suggested. and get you a butt pillow till this passes, you will feel allot better with it now having to sit on a sore tushy. :) I hope this is helpful, but always talk to your doctor and let him know exactly how bad things truely are. They really do not want you suffering!
God Bless you and I pray you get relief soon!
Hugs,
Kathy
I am so sorry that you are suffering so!! I take mirilax in my coffee EVERY DAY 2 stool softeners in the morning and 2 at night and Magnesium sometimes I do suppositories also. the last few weeks I have been haveing the large .hard stool you are talking about , to the point of having to cut them up before I flush (sorry) and still clog the toilet. I a not sure why I have had this change lately , but I have noticed that I can't eat some of the foods I could eat last month.
As for the rectal pain , not sure if it is hemorrhoids as I have never had them before BUT I have had rectal spasms , and that is very painful , had them twice in the last month and only one other time in my whole life, the only thing that works is more Norco , I tried Valium hoping that would work to relax things , but had to resort to the Norco.
If it continues this bad , I would call your doc , and yes unfortunately I have been on the pot with my feet on the little foot stool for over an hour crying in pain. I HAVE TO drink more water .
See what your doc says .
I feel for ya, it is miserable to say the least !!!

Probably you just strained the opening of your rectum. Sometimes when you're really constipated and have a very large, hard stool, it makes little tears in the skin when it comes out. But you can also end up with hemorrhoids from straining really hard like that.
I would do Miralax every day. If you aren't getting enough fluids, that's going to make the stool harder and it will take longer for it to come out. You need to get the fluids in, no matter what.
Adding some fiber like Benefiber (you can mix it in any drink) might help, too, but do NOT do that unless you know you can get enough fluids in. It makes your stool bulkier and makes it go through your intestines faster, but if you aren't drinking enough, it will make the stool really hard and dry, which is not what you want.
Including some healthy fats in your diet will help, too. If you aren't getting much healthy fat yet, try taking fish oil or flax seed oil supplements.
I understand you're scared to try to go again, but don't try to hold back because that will just make the constipation worse again.
