Upper G.I. tomorrow morning at 7am
You'll stand in front of an XRay machine, and drink the barium - when they pass you the cup, you'll be shocked at how heavy it was - I sure was! They'll ask you to swallow, and they take pictures. I also did some lying down.
It's simple, and you might feel a bit bloated afterward. It's relatively fast and painless. :)

My experience with upper GI is entirely different than previous poster. My father has them routinely for monitoring his Barretts Esophagus. He gets conscious sedation so he is a bit out of it then they pass a scope down the esophagus into the stomach. For your symptoms they could dialate a stricture if they found one .
Good luck tomorrow!
