Because i have gone through He!! seriously! My surgery was 11 weeks ago since then i have had to deal with GERD returning with a vengeance. I had to have an endoscopy and upper GI i also have gastrits i was hospitalized back in April for that. I am on at least over 10 medications. I have had severe constipation which landed me in the ER HORRRRIBLE! I lost my dignity that day. I have also had a pill get stuck, bad nausea and now the icing to the cake literally my doctor and PT thinks i have a bulging disk or a pinched nerve it all started in my lower back pretty much right after surgery. I ignored it thinking it was related to weight loss. Well 2 weeks ago now the pain is shooting down my left leg i limp everywhere and hold on to things when i walk because it hurts so bad. I was on percocet but for quite a while with all of these things going on..it would help the pain 2 hours then i was in pain again but it was also causing horrid constipation. Now i am in physical therapy and i leave for South Carolina tomorrow i planned this trip back in April and i can barely walk. I have a 2.5 hour flight ahead of me. I got prescribed like 120 muscle relaxers and can only take them every 6 hours yeah right! I am taking extra strength tylenol in between them now too. Doctor thinks with all the weight loss my back is not adjusting well because it got so used to holding and positioning a over 380 pound body for so many years. My highest was 401 and i now weight 256 i have lost over 145 lbs. My body seems to be fighting me every step of the way. To add to it i have ZERO appetite i cannot eat more than 1/4 IF i can even force myself to eat that. I get bloated and a belly ache along with nausea almost immediately after i begin eating.

Don't get me wrong this surgery is saving my life but at the same time i feel like i am going to have a nervous breakdown i cannot deal with it anymore. I am 28 years old and have a 6 and 8 year old daughter i cannot even walk to the bathroom without pain. My gastritis started getting so much better and now something else. I have lost 41 lbs since surgery and like i said more than thankful but i am going through so much right now.. i feel like i live at the doctors and hospital mine as well move in. Heck, i mine as well own my own pharmacy too while i am at it. I really am trying to hard to see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but it is seriously very hard right now. Sorry needed to vent.

Man, read some of my posts- you and I could just about be twins. I've been through hell since surgery too. I am seriously regretting it. And I will KEEP regretting it til I feel human again! I've had about every complication you can have. I can't eat anything and can hardly drink for all the nausea and vomiting. I have been on 7 different meds and nothing helps. Hugs and prayers.....

I am so sorry that your journey is rough.  But as much as it is rough right now, think about the obstacles and challenges that you had before or would have had coming.

Stay encouraged, you are so worth it!!!

So sorry ur going thru such an ordeal. So so sorry. But in my case, i had rny 7mos ago. I didnt go thru the same difficulties as you, but i havebeen having bouts with kidney stones. And in the begining i was depressed. I felt like, did i do the right thing, i felt like i was pregnant. Emotional, depressed, nnauseated, weak, all the physical challenges most of us have gone thru. Not getting in all the vites, n fluids, constipation, and the beat goes on. But, it did get better. What everyone says on here is true. One day at a time. I have hard days at times now, but the way i feel physically, just outweighs all the negatives. You hear ppl say, i wish i had wls sooner, or if i could do it all over again, i would...well i feel the same. And i hope i feel the same 7yrs from now. Do try and hang in there. I remember NUT stressing, to stay hydrated, even if vites are hard to take, or soft foods or whatever. Try try to stay hydrated. Hope tht helps.

Is there a mechanical failure in your surgery that you still have all that acid coming back up?  The whole idea of bypass is supposed to avoid that.  What do the doctors say?  I hope it all gets better, as someone who has to live with hip pain with the sharp shooting pains down my legs also at times I can feel for you.  I really hope it starts to get better soon, you are so young to have to live with chronic pain.  Good luck.

I would think your back would be rejoicing...it has less weight pulling on it.

And I am sorry to hear what a rocky road you have been down, it all sounds pretty awful!

YAY on the weight loss, you are clearly dedicated to have lost so much before your surgery and hopefully you will find wonderful relief soon on many of your issues!

Have you tried sitting on a yoga ball? I have several of the 75 size balls at both our homes and prefer to sit on them vs. a hard chair and you can actually rock your pelvis in a circle as you sit and really strengthen your core and help your back. You might want to give it a try! They say a 250 lb. limit, but both brands I bought held me just fine at 333!

Hugs--and have a great trip! Charleston?

I'm so sorry hun.  I had those same emotions.  I cried all the time for the first 2 - 3 months, then one day it just stopped.  I became euphoric as the weight started to drop off me.

I had fluid on the lungs and spleen that had to be drained with tubes.  I was more in than out of the hospital the first 3 months.  I lost a whole summer in a morphine haze.

What I learned:  we are so much tougher than we think we are.  Never, EVER lose hope.  Never give up.  Most of the battle is mental.   You are a warrior and you can get thru this!!!   Its only a temporary setback.   Keep us updated!
