I can't speak about steroids, but I have 4 bulging discs in my neck that pinch a nerve somewhere in my arms and cause them to go numb at night if I raise them to the pillow, as well as DDD in my lower back, Carpal tunnel in both wrists ( told not to undergo surgery)- basically lots of aches and pains on a daily basis. Whew! Anyway, I finally turned to medication. Just to get myself through the work day. I have started with Tramadol. It helps. It is ok for RNY and is non-narcotic ( although the label says controlled substance). Tylenol wasn't getting it anymore. So, if you are looking for NSaid replacement as opposed to steroids, ask about tramadol. A pinched nerve is a painful, crippling problem! Hope you feel better!
