In need of a pep talk. Possibly a swift kick in the rear

So my husband and I are in the process of moving to Texas. He is already there and for the past few weeks I've been traveling, visiting family. I had no clue how difficult eating well would be. I think I did okay most of the time, I tried to keep protein first. One think I was proud of myself for was keeping up with my vitamins everyday. What I'm worrying about is this. I feel like getting away from carbs is a problem for me. When were at the Mexican resturaunt I have a chip or two, ill eat the shell of a burrito. When I was at my grandmas I ate a biscuit. Croutons, crackers. I seem to keep telling myself that the small amount I'm eating won't hurt. I bought freaking pretzels and popcorn at the store today. I'll be 4 months out on the 13th of July. My plan says not to add carbs back in until 6 months out if at all. I also am guilty of drinking with my meals. I don't know why but it seems almost impossible for me not to drink while I eat. I don't chug 3 glasses or anything, I might get through half a glass. Also, it's hard for me to eat my 5 to 6 meals a day. Most days I end up just eating 3 and then sometimes ill have a few pistachios. I understand fully I have some faults to work out here, especially only being 4 months out I am terrified of failing at this. Any words of encouragement will be appreciated. On a positive note I'm working out 4 to 5 times a week, doing cardio and strength
training, and I hope to be in onederland the next time I step on the scale!

I am just 10 months in-i  do eat some carbs but not much but still wonder if i were to cut back on some if it would help increase more weight loss- but do not drink with my meals even though it is the ONE thing that I miss most-more than anything else - so that would be the one word of advice that i would give to you - DO NOT DRINK WITH MEALS (okay 5 words).....You are doing great with your cardio and strength training and that is why i think some carb is okay as your body needs some!!

Try putting an ice cube on a saucer next to your plate. When you are thirsty, just suck on an ice cube for a moment.

Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

For the drinking with meals, Dont order a drink. At first I wouldnt order a water, then I started getting it to drink before the meal. Now I get it but when the meal comes I move the glass to the other side normally by my husband. But there are still a lot of time that I dont even bother with ordering a drink.

As far as the carbs, it is a slippery slope. I do 1 slice of toasted whole wheat bread with eggs. But I dont do them often. Sometimes I do popcorn, about 2 cups (tend to share the snack size bags with my son). It really is a hard thing to find a balance. I wouldnt say no carbs just not to many and not processed crappy ones. I would rather have a baked potato any day over chips.

You have to learn your trigger foods. For me its crackers. Even if I do them with meat and cheese or PB. I know I like them and having 4 for a snack with cheese might not be bad but I was doing it almost every night. So now I do just the cheese. Lately I have been doing cocoa roasted almonds. Gives me something with crunch and a little sweet.

You are wasting the best part of your surgery when losing will be easier than it ever will be again in your life. Suppose you had a beautiful new cashmere sweater.  The tag says cold wash with delicate soap and block to dry flat.  You think that you are in too big a hurry and wash and it in the machine with ho****er and bleach, then dry it on high heat so it will be done quickly.  When you take the sweater out of the dryer, the bleach has taken out the color and the heat has shrunk it down many sizes.

You can say that you only did it one time, but the sweater is still ruined.  Eating those carbs increases your appetite and makes you crave more carbs.  Once you start, it is very hard to quit.  Carbs are extremely addictive, not to mention fattening.  They are going to slow down your loss and make it so much harder to ever reach your goal weight.

After you watch this video you will understand why no drinking with meals.

Here is the Youtube video about drinking with meals.  I can't post a link but cut and paste this into your browser Just put a period where the spaces are

A meal can be a slice of deli ham, a hard-boiled egg or a piece of string cheese.  Concentrate on protein and you will lose faster and feel better,

Seriously, I think you're doing GREAT.  However, I will add that you already know what you need to do...

I also do nor think there is anything wrong with a chip or two at a restaurant when you're out because we do live in the "real" world; however, I would encourage you to, today, get the stuff out of the house that you're not supposed to have because you are only setting yourself up to fail if you continue down this path.

Welcome to the loser's bench!!!!
