YIKES! I want MORE 'made in the USA'...
What's up with this? I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the labels with made in the USA best ... more than any other label in the whole wide world ... I do.. ME, MY CHOICE ...gimme 'made in the USA' any day please ... I'll take it...
I grew up in Panamá in an era where 'made in the USA' labels meant QUALITY bar none.... I grew up wearing dungarees and pedal pushers and running in the fields in the interior of the country on an awesome farm with a HUGE house with an all surrounding balcony that my French grandfather built .... I grew up in an era where 'made in the USA' made one feel rich because it was associated with quality, durability and long wear .... one had to be able to 'afford' made in the USA ... and most all else was 'cheap' and broke easy.... To this day I still LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE "made in the USA" labels best of all ... so...
YIKES! ... There is something wrong with this picture!
..... as I sit here about to post my empowerment collage for THIS DAY in my digital empowerment journal 'A Picture a Day Keeps the Pounds and the Inches Away' I noticed that there is something amiss in this picture.... there is nothing except the furnishings maybe that is labeled 'made in the USA' ... my delicious Ambrosia apple from Western Canada ... YUM ... because at least one serving of fruit per day is a must have for me.. OMG as I look at my tiny labels and YIKES even at me ... I realize that neither the labels NOR me are made in the USA .... but I am about the switch that up ... because I live in the USA .... I LOVE the USA ... and I LOVE LOVE LOVE made in the USA ... I am going to start checking my labels .... for 'made in the USA' ... Feeling totally patriotic on the eve of Independence Day celebration next week....
This is my entry in my digital empowerment journal TODAY .... 6 years and almost 5 months post RNY Gastric Bypass ... and I captured it all ... in a goofy digital journal called "A Picture a Day Keeps the Pounds and the Inches Away"
Because yesterday is gone ... and along with it 5 co-morbidities in full remission, limited mobility and the C-Pap machine that bit the dust 6 years and almost 4 months ago ... I am HEALTHY... I am MOBILE ... I AM FREE OF MORBID OBESITY.... At 5'.5.5" tall I am managing a total loss of 203 pounds and have a BMI of 20.5 ... of course if I could factor in my 3.5" platforms or 4" heels I could bring that number down a bit with my heel induced tall-ness.. LOL LOL LOL...
This morning I took a close-up picture of my broken dolly and me ... while her new mold is on the way we are still rocking it strong ..because the broken pieces have been picked up ... she has been patched up and is rocking beautifully with her scars and all ... just like us ... because YESTERDAY IS GONE ...and TODAY is HERE ... a NEW DAY for new opportunities, new beginnings, and the continuance of an awesome journey seeking health and mobility for life!
Thanks for allowing me to share ... SNIPPETS of my Journey....
I very rarely see that made in USA or made in Canada anymore! Even if it is an American brand, it seems to be made somewhere else. I think I'll try to pay more attention to north American labeling! I really love your photo a day keeps the pounds away, I totally have some type of photo documentation for myself... For example, my belly before weight loss, after weight loss and after skin removal.... But I really like the accountability of your photo a day.... Maybe I'll try a photo a week or something to help remind me and keep me accountable....

Those are awesome ideas.... daily, weekly, monthly... whatever floats one's boat ... I think it is an awesome accountability tool ... I can see it... I can feel it ... but then I am goofy like that LOL plus I LOVE LOVE LOVE pictures too... I have my belly before ... and my belly after ... I have this picture of my jelly belly extra skin that I would never share on line OMG I was bending over and I swear it was like this big skin skirt totally flaccid and hanging I was like WTH is that LOL .... I least I can go back and remember and enforce my determination not to EVER go back .... I love my picture a day... I love my tape measure and I love my scale ... I am in control of the readings and I know where I want them to be .... I don't stress over numbers I take ACTION to make my numbers add up right where I want them ... I know when to chill on the sodium ... I know when to hit the tracks... and I know when I did not hydrate well enough etc etc etc... but then you have all this down pat too ... YOU LOOK AWESOME always!!!

Right there with ya!
USA used to be the ultimate manufacturer for virtually anything, worldwide. We are VERY anti-China in our family and the things we buy from China are very limited. VERY limited and never anything that is ingested, for pets or people.
We try and buy USA whenever possible. I cannot tell you how hard I had to look to find a USA made yoga mat! Finally found one at REI of all places!
My USA made clothes always wear the best and elicit the best compliments as well! You can find most things made in the USA, but you do have to look. :)
YAY FOR USA MADE ITEMS!!!

You know what drives me mad? When they say 'Designed in the USA' but made in China. URGH!
And I cannot be convinced that shipping materials there, having them made, shipping final products back and distributing them is less expensive in true cost than making them here.

I agree ... and do not get me on the subject of the less than humane conditions/treatment of the laborers ... I think that is where they save their 'cost' at the cost of the humanity doing the labor... SMH they can get a way with poor treatment of laborers in pay and conditions ... stuff that would NEVER pass here... and should not! .... okay ... off my soapbox ... I usually keep these opinions to myself and closed quarters LOL ...
