I'm on one week pureed and next week soft. I was wondering abou****ermelon one of my favorite fruits is it an option? It sure sounds like it fits.

It depends on your doc's plan.  Some recommend waiting a bit to add fruits.  And I don't know if pureed watermelon would be very appetizing to me, even if it was ok with my doc.

I found watermelon difficult to tolerate at first and I still have to be careful with it at three years out.

I think it's the nature of the beast. It's food and liquid.

Watermelon is pretty high in natural sugar.  My surgeon's office nixed watermelon, pineapple and grapes until we could tolerate the sugar in them, as they are all high sugar fruits.   I can have a bit now, a piece or two is very refreshing after a meal when you can't have a drink.     I would likely wait though, unless your plan says its fine.

I'm 4 months out and I can't tolerate watermelon. I've tried it several times and have challenges chewing it thoroughly.

I am 7mo VSG. I was told no fruits for almost a year BUT 3 months out my NUT said berries are okay sometimes.

I had 2 pieces of watermelon about 2 weeks ago and my tiny tummy didn't totally like it. It just kept making me gurgle burp randomly and tasted like watermelon and also made me feel full.

My tiny tummy can handle 95% of what I feed it *knock on wood* which I lucked out! So for RNY I am not positive but I would stay away for longer.

If I eat only a couple of bites, I'm good. Otherwise it causes GI distress that keeps me in the bathroom for a couple hours. I'm 3 months out.

Thank you all! I'm glad i asked because it seemed harmless to me since its soft and squishy and has lots of water.  I will stay away from it for a while. I love this site it helps to keep me out of trouble allot!!
