Some one who fail with RNY

She kept saying it was the surgery that failed, it was her not changing her habits and going right back to what she did before the surgery that made her obese in the first place. I am still early out but I am committed to never eat like I did- I deserve better for myself and I am the only one who has the power to change it.

She mentions recommending getting therapy but didnt sound like she had any or if she did, she didn't do it long enough or with the right therapist. Clearly didnt make any of the required changes. Sounds like she used her pregnancy as an excuse for a free for all in the food dept in order to gain 90 lbs so soon after the surgery.  She certainly sounds like she has regrets. Wonder if she got therapy now and got back into the basics if she would find her tool still works for her?

Early out it is very hard to imagine every eating like you used to or gaining any weight back.  I can tell you, as I sit here typing and eating Hershey's kisses... that isn't always the case when you get further out.  I could NEVER imagined that I would eat the crap that i eat now when I was a year out. So keep that in mind and keep your goal in your eyesight.  It does get harder as you get further out and commitment is the only thing that will keep the weight off.  It won't be a tiny, grumpy pouch any more...  Here is what I have eaten today:  (warning, it's scary....)

PreB: coffee with half and half

B: click shake with protein powder and whipped cream

S: egg and cheese wrap and 8 donut holes

L: macaroni and cheese
S: two large chocolate chip cookies and a glass of skim milk

Not to mention two diet sodas and a handful of kisses.....

And the day is not over yet. I will probably fini**** off with a giant salad and a couple of cookies and another glass of milk.

Now at six months out I would have freaked if someone told me I would eat like that.  Heck, I didn't even eat this bad before surgery....

The protein shake followed by all that crap seems a bit like ordering two Big Macs, large fries a diet coke ...

Personally I would get very sick eating the diet you do - weightloss notwithstanding, I did this to myself (altering my digestive system permanently) to be healthy, so even though I do not eat perfectly, I strive to eat as healthfully as possible, exercise etc.  I do feel I made a commitment to walk a path, which I still strive to do after 9 years.    If I were willing to feel like crap all the time, I could certainly eat a worse diet than I do now ...

As you say, it's all a choice, especially after the honeymoon period!

I am still pre op and  wondering why you feel u are eating worse now then b4 RnY ? i am on the weight management phase and i feel i am doing very well. i am making changes i know i can live with, i committed to only having 1 cheat meal and one cheat snack a week. so far i been doing well like my cheat meal i try to save till the weekend to take my lil girl out or if invited out to eat with friends and my cheat snack i save it for my Sunday as i always bake something . after i have a bit i wrap up the rest and take it over to my neighbors so i am not tempted in the middle of the night. I know that the changes i am making now will help with the my new habit forming for after RnY. What are the things u are doing to change some of the self sabotaging ways you are now doing ??? What are your advice for pre ops like me ??/

Not sure, just seems like that maybe before WLS I ate more food than I do now but certainly not the "crap" I eat now.  Not every day is as bad as yesterday but I certainly have them now.  I don't plan or spend nearly as much time on my meals as I did early out post op.  I do get a lot more exercise than I did pre op, so that is maybe why I don't gain back tons of weight.  I also developed alcohol addiction after my first year post op and that has been tough.  I seem to have swapped out vodka with junk.  I do still eat healthy things, I have had a protein shake this morning and a ff greek yogurt, but I have also had coffee and a pop tart.  Beats me!

Just keep doing what you are doing and remember it is all about choices.  I couldn't have ever imagined that I would eat this way, but I do.
