So annoyed with my nurses!

Yes, Don't over think it. Take it slow. you will know when you have enough. I was told to take small sips every 5 minutes.  It helps. When you over think it and get scared, then you end up being dehydrated because you are afraid. Little weight loss in the beginning is common, only for the fact that you had an IV in for a while and you haven't even begun to get rid of all of that gas! lol!  Try to stay away from constantly weighing yourself. It will come off.Your main job is to get up and walk, get plenty of rest and SIP, SIP, SIP! You will be ok. Some nurses can be annoying, but remember, if they haven't gone through this, they really won't know first hand. When you become overwhelmed just remember to breath! *hugs* and welcome to your new life!

Just make sure you get one oz liquid every 15 minutes and I think that will help. I am surprised to hear about another poster able to eat 1/2 cup of something though. Here, our long term diet consists of 4tblsps of food 4 times a day and most I know feel full then. It just takes adjusting. I know everyone is different though and today was my surgery day so that's all the advice I have. Never stop drinking except during meals and put flavorless protein powder in everything. If you eat protein first, you stay fuller longer and the flavorless can go in sooo much! Good luck.
