How long after surgery were you on your pain meds?
Hello Everyone!!!
I had my surgery on Tuesday and I am home now. It feels as if my insides are all twisted up. It makes for a very miserable day. I am wondering how long you were on your pain medications? What type of medications, and how in the world did you get your fluids in? I am lucky to get in 3 ounces before feeling uncomfortable for hours.

I was on IV morphine in the hospital. I came home the day after surgery. Then I had Vicodin tablets. I think I was on those for about five days.
I had trouble getting my fluids in. I just didn't feel thirsty. I ended up dehydrated twice and had to go to the ER for IV fluids.

You won't become dependent on pain meds if you take them as prescribed and stop taking them when you are no longer in pain.
Are you in agony when you take your meds? If so, you need to call your surgeon.

It's from having your skin, muscles, stomach, and small intestine sliced open and sewn back together, mostly. If you had laparoscopic surgery, they also pumped your abdomen full of gas to make more room in there to work, so that can cause pain, too.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
They may have given me something in my IV in the hospital, but I never took any pain pills or pain meds of any kind. Never had a real pain.
