Okay guys... I usually don't complain, but seriously this 2 week pre op liquid diet is kicking my butt... :( Is it going to be this bad after surgery? I mean I know after surgery won't be easy but is it going to be like this?

I know I sound like i am complaining and ungrateful, but I'm really not..

I'm some ways I thought the pre op diet was easier, and in some ways I thought it was harder, than the immediate post op diet.

Pre op, my protein shakes tasted good, but I was hungry for real food.  Post op, I wasn't hungry at all, but my protein shakes, yogurt and pudding tasted so disgustingly sweet, they made me want to vomit.  So pre op I had to deal with being hungry, post op I had to deal with forcing myself to drink stuff that tasted really icky.  I don't know which one is better or worse.

I'm only a few days out, but before was so much worse..because you could "cheat", I kept my cheating to a very bare minimum like a mouthful of chicken one night (yes I know tisk-tisk)...after so far..I have no desire what-so-ever to even look at food.

I only had to do one day of the pre-op liquid diet but it was torture. After surgery though, I wasn't hungry at all so it wasn't a big deal. You may have "head hunger" but probably not real hunger.

You're going to do great! Just take it one day at a time.  I'm just under a month post-op and have lost 37 pounds. It's all so worth it!

My surgeon is not requiring pre op diet for me but I can't imagine with the ravenous appetite I have (unfilled band currently), that I could endure. Good luck to you - it will all be worth it!!

It is hard, but you are just getting to a week out and that is around when it got easier for me.  The worst part is it feels like the 2 week pre-op liquid diet DRAGS on forever.  I cannot believe that this last 2 weeks has felt like 2 months to me!

Hope it gets a little easier for you, but keep up the good work!
