I came out of surgery with a drain unexpectedly and ALOT Of pain.  The morphine was not touching the pain, but my surgeon said he could not give me anything by mouth until the next morning. He had to do the test to check for leaks, then when it was clear, he switched me to liquid Lortab, which helped soooo much....  Maybe they can try that for you too!  Congrats !!  IT does get better soon.....

Congrats Samantha!  You did it, you made it through surgery. Talk to the doctor about the pain.  There was someone in there with me that the morphine did nothing for and I believe she said they had to do something else for her.  Walking will help! Each time will get a bit easier. Not sure what room they have you in, but I did just that little circle at first, then a larger one increasing my number of times around till I went home.  Just do what you can, don't over do it though!  You got this :)

Congratulations!  Talk to your doctor if the pain isn't being properly managed.  The morphine may not be the best choice for pain relief for you.

Glad everything went well.  You will see a big improvement everyday.  By my fourth day I started to feel a lot better than I expected.  I am two weeks out today and going back to work tomorrow.  If you asked me the day after surgery if that would happen I would have said no.  It is amazing how quickly our bodies heal.  Take care.

Congratulations!

I agree with the above person who mentioned Tylenol. My surgeon doesn't give narcotics because they want you to walk as much as you can and being dopey doesn't do well with that. I wasn't in very much pain at all with that.

Oh my I hope your pain gets better really soon.  I'm still waiting to get my procedure scheduled and hope to have it done some time in September but now after reading your post and how much pain you are experiencing I'm scared to death!!!!.  I pray that each and every day is a little better for you.
