What are the thoughts on using this.  I have a chicken breast recipe that calls for this and mayo, onion soup mix and a little Russian dressing.  It says Splenda on the label in large letters.  Is this preserves loaded with sugar alcohols?  I cannot figure it out.  Something makes it sweet.  I have never dumped and don't want to.  It just seemed an interesting recipe and I am getting in a rut right now.  6 months out.  So your thoughts please.

I think if it contained sugar alcohols, it would be in the ingredients list and listed in the nutritional info.

Not that I can see. If you're unsure you could do more research.

The label will say sugar alcohol, so this looks okay. The ingredients make it sound like something I'd like, so how about sharing the recipe...Hmmmm ?

Here is the recipe.  Seems weird but I bet it works.  I used to make one with apricot preserves and taco seasoning mix.  It worked well.  Chicken needs a pop I think.  :)

Please don’t judge the recipe by the photo!  (I still didn’t know what I was doing with my camera…one of these days I’ll make it again and we’ll make prettier!).  This is such a good recipe – it’s been in every hometown cookbook and continues to be a favorite.

Sounds odd and weird – but it works!  I’ve done it with tofu, also.  Cut slabs of firm tofu and let it soak in the sauce…then baked it off.  REALLY good!

Serve this over a bed of herbed rice for your family and a steamed, fresh vegetable.

In a medium bowl, whisk together jam, dressing, mayonnaise, and onion soup mix. Spread 1/2 cup of jam mixture onto the bottom of baking dish. I love the apricot and orange marmalade sugar free flavors.  I've also heated and used as a topping, and thinned with a bit of vinegar for a salad dressing.

I like the salad dressing idea.  Am going to use that for sure.  Thanks

this doesn't have sugar alcohols so no worry about that. personally, i would choose one of the "all fruit" types of jams. they just have fruit and sometimes also fruit juice. but no added chemicals. i would also skip the low fat options (here its mayo) because often, when fat is removed from a food, sugar or chemicals are added.

i would make my own russian dressing rather than buy a bottle because the bottles are loaded with sodium (and often chemicals). and its easy to do: mayo plus chili sauce or ****tail sauce or ketchup plus dehydrated onion. you're likely to have all of that on had already! and you can see that this recipe essentially calls for mayo twice, so you can lessen the amount if you choose.

and lastly, i would make my own onion soup flavoring using dehydrated onions and unsalted onion powder, this way you could avoid all the chemicals and sodium that come in packaged onion soup mix. for your reference, here's the ingredient list in lipton's onion soup mix:

Onions (deyhydrated), salt, cornstarch, onion powder, sugar, corn syrup, hydrolyzed soy protein, caramel color, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, monosodium glutamate, yeast extract, natural flavors, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate.

why consume stuff you can't pronounce when you can just get the real stuff from the spice aisle? just my two cents. it think the recipe sounds really good; i would just personally substitute whole foods for the engineered stuff.
