Going out to breakfast with family, can I have a toasted bagel with cream cheese?

I'm going to go against the grain and say I had half a bagel this morning and had no problem (and my surgery was one week after yours).  But only half a bagel.  No way could I eat a whole one.

For future, if you ever find yourself in a situation (or someone else does) at breakfast, some other good choices might be: Lox & Bagel (just eat the lox and a smear of cream cheese w/it), 2 strips of bacon, 1 egg with a bit of cheese, etc. I suppose if all you had to choose from was bagels and nothing else, short of bringing your own food with you, you could opt for a whole wheat/multigrain bagel and ask them to "scoop it out" (where you pull out all the gushy bit of bread and just are left with crust), toast it, then to put the cream cheese in it after scooped out. I wouldn't have tried it yet but am avoiding carb heavy stuff for as long as I can.
