Iron infusion during pregnancy?

I know I haven't been around in a while, but I need some advice! My doctor is thinking of doing an iron infusion on me, and I'm 33 weeks pregnant. Does anybody have any experience with this happening?

X-post to the pregnancy board.

Thanks for your help!

Anna

Do you have a support group you attend? Maybe someone there would have some experience there as well as here.  Good luck to you

RNY on 06/11/13

Not experience post RNY but when I was pregnant with my daughter I needed an infusion around 35 weeks, I became anemic. In pregnancy the baby takes a lot of your nutritional stores, particularly iron, and on top of the fact that you had RNY and malapsorption issues exist now your need for iron for yourself is even higher. So, it makes total sense...If you're feeling at all fatigued and icky like I imagine you are right now, you should start feeling much better after the infusion!

It's scheduled for this evening. I'm actually relieved, because I've been so tired!! New kind of tired. I'm just hoping for no allergic reactions!!

Thanks for the replies!
