What Week did You Start Vitamin?

We do have some stores of vitamins and minerals but I don't understand why some doctors think it's a good idea to use all that up before we start supplementing.  I personally prefer to prevent deficiencies, not wait until I'm deficient in something and then start supplementing.

Of course, I also don't understand why so many docs disagree with the ASMBS guidelines, which are for the most part based in science.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.

My surgeon, my bariatric coordinator and my nutritionist all said different things.  But I'm going with my surgeon, who said to start one week out.  I just had my surgery on Wednesday, so at the moment I'm just concnetrating on trying to get all the fluids...by a week later, I'm hoping I'll be at the point that I'm comfortable with vitamins.

I started them right away.  Big ones often got stuck, which might be why your doctor wants you to wait... but if they are chewable, stuck shouldn't be an issue.
