Every since surgery I've nauseous all the time and unable to tolerate food (for the most part). I throw up at least once everyday, and its not from eating to fast or to much cause I don't have to even eat to be well dry heaving since I didn't eat. My doc says to just keep pushing fluids that dehydration can be the cause of the nausea expecially right away when I wake up. That's when I'm most nauseous and usually vomit but it does accure through out the day. Then I'm always tired because I'm just drinking water n more water n more water(but still nauseous). I started drinking protein shakes even through my doc doesn't approve. I have to get some protein in some how. Any suggestion on how to get rid of this nausea besides fluids since I'm already drink at least 80oz a day....

My doc gave me a prescription for phenergan suppositories that work amazing. Water agrees with me more with splash of apple juice. My protein powder goes down smoother when blended in my magic bullet with some ice and skim milk. It comes out like a wendy's frosty. I like the Wal-mart brand body fortress Chocolate w/Peanut Butter flavor. It has 26grams of protein per serving which is good for a powder. For me it doesn't matter the temperature of liquids but I'm having pain in my pouch when I swallow liquids so I'm having to take a pain med in order to drink but the pain meds also make me nauseated so I use the phenergan for that. I haven't vomited but I can only imagine that is misery. I hope it gets better for you quick. Are you taking an antacid? if not I suggest you do so you don't develop an ulcer.

Hang in there, I don't know why, I was sick and throwing up for about three months and then just one day it went away.

Ask your doctor to prescribe something like zofran for nausea.

I'm curious, why haven't you asked for medication for the nausea by now? I wouldn't have left the hospital without something for it, there's 0 reason to suffer. Call them today IMHO.

Has it been going on since the 8th though? I would keep calling back, there's no reason they cannot prescribe you some Zofran...Who the heck can drink properly if they are nauseous and vomiting anyway?

Please call and get some meds to help.  Are you on a PPI also, it seems to really help those early out with nausea.  Your doc is right dehydration will cause additional nausea.

I can relate I dealt with nausea for about 8 weeks, although I didn't throw up just a constant nauseated feeling.  Warm peppermint tea seemed to really help settle my pouch down.
