Help with complete vitamin switch please?
I saw my dietician today and there is a possibility the iron in my bariatric fusion vitamins is causing my constipation. We both agreed I can try celebrate since its a different form of iron. I am also waiting on a lab slip for a whole range of b/w I am due anyway for my 6 months labs and I have been exhausted! So obviously celebrate compared to fusion is completely different!
I have celebrate multivitamin not complete
celebrate iron +c
celebrate sublingual b12.
Bariatric advantage calcium citrate chews 250mg per 1.
I have no idea how to space these!
Besides these meds I also take synthroid has to be spaced apart at least 4 hours from antacids/vitamins.
prevacid 30mg
biotin 5,000 mcg 2x dday
Colace 2x day
wellbutrin 2x day
ambien 10mg at bedtime
So what is my easiest way to get this all in as far as spacing? I don't know what can be mixed with what. Also is 2 calcium citrate chews a day sufficient? Iron said 1x day and multi said 1 chewable 2x day. I am trying this for this current week anyway to see if it makes a difference in my constipation issued. Ty to anyone who can help

I would seriously reconsider the chews as the sole source if calcium. They have a lot of calories over the course if the day.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
I use the 500 mg Bariatric Advantage calcium chews. 15 calories per chew 3x per day = 45 calories. It's like a small treat for me.
No, one calcium chew is not sufficient. The ASMBS says we need 1500 to 2000 mg calcium citrate a day - that means six to eight of those chews. You can take two at a time, since we can absorb about 500 mg calcium at a time.
These are way better vitamins than the Bariatric Fusion anyway.
Try a schedule like this:
Wake up - Synthroid
Lunch - multi, two calcium chews, B12
Mid-afternoon - two calcium chews
Dinner - multi, two calcium chews
Bedtime - iron
Stick the other meds in wherever they go best - don't take the prevacid with the iron because it can interfere with iron absorption.

At least two hours away from each other.
The issue is that Prevacid cuts down on stomach acid and you need some stomach acid break down the iron for absorption.

Oh, no problem. I know it's horribly confusing at first trying to figure out what can go together and what can't.

I used a lot of the celebrate brands in the beginning and I found that not only were the dosing too low, but they were really expensive for what you get.
For the Iron, I switched to Sundown Perfect Iron in 25mg tabs. I take 6 of them, because my iron is so horrific. The celebrate were only 18mg tabs and is far more expensive per bottle than the BOGO I was finding on the Sundown. I also found Feosol Carbonyl iron that comes in 45mg tabs and I'm switching to those when my Sundown is gone.
I buy my multivitamin from the CVS or Walgreens as well, BOGO. I buy the senior versions without iron, because its the kind of iron that is super constipating. I buy generic and its MUCH MUCH cheaper than the celebrate version.
I buy generic calcium citrate tabs and combine them with either the chews (bariatric advantage) or the Healthy Indulgence Coins. The tabs are MUCH cheaper than the chews, plus I'd need EIGHT chews a day to get in my proper dose. They are a lot of calories, but more than that at $12 for a bag of 60, its a lot and they are gone in 2 weeks.
Sublingual b12 is also sold in CVS or Walgreens at a much lower cost than the celebrate. Overall, I feel that the Bariatric Advantage and Celebrate brands are a total ripoff marketed to post-surgery patients who don't know any better.
As far as spacing, here's what I do:
with breakfast - 1 multivitamin + 1 calcium citrate pill
with lunch - 1 multivitamin + 1 calcium citrate pill + B12 + vitamin D
with afternoon snack - 2 calcium citrate chews
with dinner -- some form of calcium
with night time snack -- all my iron + vitamin C
I sorta agree with you, except when patients want chewables, Celebrate and Bariatric Advantage give them some options not easily found in local stores. Yeah, you can buy chewable Centrum in stores, but if you don't like the taste, Celebrate and BA provides other flavors. And they offer chewable calcium citrate, which is very hard to find in stores, and chewable iron.
