6 days out - retaining water & watering eyes

Hi everyone,

I am now 6 days out from my RNY surgery and am retaining a lot of water (I still weight about 5 lbs more than the morning of surgery though the day after my surgery I weighed 15 lbs more!).  My body has started releasing some of that fluid (I've dropped 10 lbs in the past 2 days from the water), but I'm just curious how long until I start to see the scale moving down.  Did anyone else retain water for a long time?

The other issue I'm having trouble with is watering eyes.  Apparently they put something in my eyes to protect them during surgery and since the day after surgery my eyes have been red and watery.  (In the hospital, they secreted this disgusting yellow goo that would glue them shut but thankfully that has stopped).  Again, just wondering if others had that problem and how long the problem persisted.

Thanks for your input!

Am I the only one that has had these problems?

I have had no problem with my eyes.

I had surgery July 16 and weighed 319 that morning.

Came home from hospital two days later 15 pounds heavier.

August 16 I weighed 300.

Scale has not moved for me since then.

I keep hearing this is normal...sure hope so!

I haven't heard of the eye problems, but t sounds just like pink eye. Could it be that you have pink eye that you picked up in the hospital or that is unrelated to your surgery? 2 very close friends have pink eye in the house right now.
