I believe it. With all the charges for all the pre-op stuff and everything, my total is over $80,000. I don't see the hospital bill (only stayed 1 night) but the surgery itself was close to $55,000.

Wow, mine was 36788 and the negotiated rate brought it down to under 13K total!

Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

Hospitals charge a different fee from what the insurance actually pays -  sometimes it's jaw-dropping as in this case!

Holly cow!!! Here's where I am glad my husband is military and it all is covered 100%. Of course, I believe some times if he wasn't military, I wouldn't of needed the surgery in the first place. I became a stress eater once he decided to go back on active duty 7 yrs ago. Stressfull life...but I love my husband to death!
I hope your portion isn't too much. Good luck with your journey and I hope you feel it was worth every penny. .

One thing when you have any type of surgery they will try to bill you and your insurance company.Make sure you check your bills. Some people will pay without checking. Just remember you can get a payment plan and tell them what you can afford every month.

Yea... I had an ugly bill too.. fortunately for me I was covered and only had an out of pocket max of $3500.00  So that's what my surgery cost me...

There is no way I would have had the surgery until I found out what my portion would be.  I talked to my insurance company several times and went over everything just to make sure there weren't going to be any hidden costs.  I would be getting on the phone ASAP and find out what you are going to be responsible on your end.  Hope it isn't a large amount.  Yikes!!!!  indecision Jane

Mine was right about $83000.00 too. Crazy!! Stayed 3 days and wow did they charge for it! Luckily, I had almost met my out of pocket maximum so my part was only 600.00. Much better than the whole 10%!!
