We are sorry this happen.  One month out is really too early to be eating Chinese.  Lesson learned and follow the time table from your surgeon and you will be fine.  You don't want to be devil  all the time

Ouch. I'm two weeks out as of yesterday and I can't even imagine trying to eat anything like that anytime soon. I tried some Wendy's chili for the first time today and it was so good, but I could only handle a few small bites of it. I totally understand your frustration though. I'm ready to get my life to my new normal, if that makes sense.

Shrimp is still really hard for me to handle even over a year out.

Yup, me too. Shrimp is one of the few things I just cannot tolerate at 7 months out. And once something doesn't sit right when you swallow, just give up. Don't try something else at that meal. Perhaps sip on some warm tea to help everything "adjust"

broccoli is hard to digest. and steamed even more so. even now i can only stand a small amount of very fibrous vegetables. take it easy. stick with the mushy protein for a while. broccoli will come eventually.

Please follow your doctors food guide. This will help ensure your pouch heals well, by eating thing you shouldnt be eating you run the risk of really hurting yourself. It will take you till about 6 month maybe more before are trying eating a normal diet. right now you should be eating protein first, eggs, cottage cheese, yogurts, soft cheeses, refried beans with cheese, chili, ground beef mixed with speg sauce and ricotta cheese if you like. Veggies are hard for a while. I do mashed cauliflower a lot now. but some i still cant do a just over 1 year post op.

But please please please, call your doctors office if they didnt give you a list of foods to be eating at this stage. Or go see your dietician.

Sweet and Sour chicken, Really good. I personally use about 1/2 the sugar.

I am almost 10 years out, and every now and then broccoli and shrimp will still get me if I hurry and don't chew, chew, and chew some more.  At a month out, you really need to stick with softer, easier to digest meats like canned chicken and canned tuna.  I was probably 1 year out or more before I could handle broccoli or shrimp with ease.  Just be patient.  As more time goes on, you will be able to enjoy eating more things.

One thing I have found is that eating Chinese out from a restaurant even as far out as I am usually makes me feel bad.  It has lots of sodium in it too.  I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have eaten Chinese out in the 10 years since my surgery.  I try different recipes and make them healthy and tasty at home.  It does much better on my tummy.  I love broccoli and shrimp.  I cook it often.  Get online and look up different recipes and try them at home.  Good luck!
