chewing gum
Chewing gum doesn't make me burp.

No harm at all.

I think some surgeons also think it could get stuck. I chew gum everyday. It helps my tummy feel better when I have eaten too much. I have not swallowed gum since I was 5 years old so I do not worry.

The reason we're told not to chew gum is it can get stuck if we swallow it. I know a few post ops who chewed and forgot and swallowed it and warm tea kept it pliable enough so they could pass it. The scare tactic always was they had to go back in after it with a scope if we chewed it too early. Once you're farther out it's not an issue, but if you're a newbie be careful as your opening is smaller than the wad of chewed gum.
