I just found out I have an ulcer so I need to be on a PPI long term. It was recommended that I use a supplemental Vit D and calcium 600mg in addition to my bariatric vitamins. I also had Vit D labs checked and the level is normal but on the low side normal starts at 30 and I am at 32. Any supplements/brands anyone recommends since the PPI is likely to make this worse?

Well, first of all, I don't think 32 is "normal" for vitamin D.  There is ample research that shows that below 80, we are at increased risk for stuff like osteoporosis, heart disease and some types of cancer.  I like the 50,000 IU D3 capsules from vitalady.com.  I have to take three of them a week to keep my level around 100.

When you say "bariatric vitamins," are you taking Bariatric Fusion?  I don't  know if I'm remembering correctly or not.  If you are, then I definitely recommend a couple doses of calcium citrate in addition to those, since they have more calcium carbonate (which we can't absorb) than citrate.  Doesn't matter what brand.  I use the generic from whatever store I happen to be shopping at when I need to buy some.

Make sure you do not take your PPI with your iron since it interferes with iron absorption.

Ty Kelly. I picked up some Target brand calcium citrate +D and addition Vitamin D3 2,000 IU. Will take them both 1x day.
