Update re Ghrelin -- Why RNY'rs might outlive VSG and DS patients
I'm a newbie here, and appreciate the informative posts on this forum.
Due to the fact I had a Nissan Fundoplication 15 yrs ago, my doctor doesn't know yet if he will be able to do a sleeve or a full RNY. He has to unwrap the Nissan first.
At first, I wasn't wanting the RNY because I didn't want to lose the weight so quickly. I also worried about the remaining ghrelin left after surgery as I was told if they remove it, your cravings basically disappear.
Correct me if I'm wrong. According to your posts on this topic, you all are happier with the RNY than the sleeve?
I rarely get to talk to my doctor, so this forum is going to be a huge help.

Yes, I'm very happy so far with the RNY surgery. But there are countless people thrilled with VSG and DS surgeries, as well. I posted this update re ghrelin (just on the RNY site) because it is scientifically interesting to me, and I thought I'd share it with other RNY'rs for those interested in various aspects of the latest research re ghrelin. I don't mean for it to sway anyone's decision on which surgery to get.
I always want to stress about these posts of mine re the potential health benefits of ghrelin that: ****veryone is drastically better off curing their morbid obesity than having lots of ghrelin, such that no one who has had the VSG or DS surgery should fret in the least, (2) my comments in this latest post re longevity are entirely theoretical, and (3) I hope everyone who has had VSG, RNY, and DS surgeries lives to be 120!!!
