I am noticing after sitting for a period of time that I have some serious pain in my tailbone! I know it's because of the weight loss, but go**** hurts, especially if I sit on a hard surface! Anyone else having this issue ? Will we just get used to it ?

It's brutal. I was not endowed with junk in my trunk anyway. After losing my weight it's all bone for the most part. I have learned to reposition frequently and to sit on one side or the other if I do not have adequate padding on my seat.

I did not get used to it through an entire football season of sitting in the stands for back to back freshman and JV games. Basketball season is no better!!!!!

I have the same problem, even if the chair is well padded.  I can't sit for long periods of time without repositioning a lot.  I always wonder if naturally skinny people have this problem, or if it may go away as our bodies adjust to less fat???

BTDT....it took a while but mine eventually settled down.  I do get some discomfort if I sit on a really hard surface, like football stadium benches.

I believe most people eventually get rid of the pain although there are some that have had to had ****ygectomy surgery to remove the ****yx (tail bone)

I am so glad to read the first part of your post because I really want to avoid the second part of your post, which is what my ortho suggested if he said it continued to be a 'significant problem'. It hurts SO MUCH that even in my car I have to put extra padding on the seat for a long drive. And my 'sit bones' are tender, too, but the tailbone is just SORE most of the time. I feel like my great grandma when she used to go on about her aches and pains, so I keep it quiet except to my husband and doctors. But thrilled to see your post that there IS hope!

Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

I had to give up sitting in my bathtub for a few weeks because it hurt so much, but it did settle down and I'm back to enjoying the warm baths like help with another new problem--feeling cold a lot.  (that has subsided a bit, too).  Oh, what fun, grateful problems to have, right?!

Could you guys have Pilonidal cysts?  These are what drove Rush Limbaugh to pharmaceutical abuse.   I had one (when I was skinny...and running) and it would flare up and I would have to have the doc lance it and take strong antibiotics. It got to where I would keep flaring up and eventuallyu I had to surgically remove it.

Anyway, it felt like my tailbone was bruised/sore or like I had pulled a muscle in there.

Check underneath the cleft in your backside....it may be a hard knot bump there (if it is deep) or it can appear like a pimple on steroids.

Often the docs will not lance them unless they are "cherry tomato" sized. The smell is beyond disgusting.  Very necrotic...

Yes, I have the same problem   I guess I had a lot more padding on my backside than I realized:)

I'm almost a year out and have the same problem.  I ordered this pillow, which I saw in an earlier post:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000066OC7/ref=oh_details_o 02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.  It works pretty good although I still get uncomfortable after a long time sitting.

If the link doesn't work it's :

Wagan IN9788 Ortho Wedge Cushion on Amazon, and was about $12
