Three miles this week.

Well, I hit three miles this week!!!  We were told to be at three miles by our 6 week appointment and I made it before my 4 weeks post op.  It was pushing it but if I take my time it is doable.  It has been taking me a little over an hour to do, and the grandson loves the walk to boot.

Anyway, my honey and I are tired of our protein shakes with freebies of jello, runny cream of wheat, pudding and egg flower soup.  We are officially allowed to start food a week from tomorrow, but my honey said what's four days.  He figures so many of you all have already been eating.  When we start we are allowed refried beans, canned/ground meats ect at first and move onto cooked meats by 6-8 weeks (so another 3-5 weeks).  He would like to try dark turkey on Thursday with fat free gravy.  I must say I would too.  I would mince it thoroughly with a knife.  What are your thoughts?  I am not sold on the idea, although it sounds heavenly, as I am not wanting to be sick on Thanksgiving.

Gosh that is a LONG time to wait for food! I typically say you chose your surgeon for a reason and should follow their plan for the simple reason there was something in your interview of him/her that made you choose them. That being said I could not have stuck to your plan. I'm also surprised he allows a carb like cream of wheat but no other protein!!?? I'll just say by your point I was eating puree food. I was only allowed meat cheese and eggs so I pureed whatever meat I was cooking the family that night, whi*****luded chicken, turkey, beef etc Pork was the only one that was a no go for me for a LONG time! Each person is different, some can't do eggs, others can't do beef, and others can't do chicken it's all up to what your grouchy pouch will tolerate.

I agree with the last poster.  That is a long time to wait for food!  Maybe try a little turkey. . .minced and definitely add gravy.  Take it slow.
