Surviving the Christmas party (mostly)

Well, I did it.  Survived our Christmas party.  We had a caterer, so I was able to control the menu to some extent.  Lots of healthier options and lots of protein, but still turned out very rich.  Was able to steer clear of the sweets, not even tempted.   Had little samples of most of the items throughout the evening, but couldn't do much -it was all so rich and felt heavy on my stomach.

Woke up around 3 am, stomach aching, bowels noisy and unhappy, and absolutely craving the sweets!  My minor indulgences just took a little longer to catch up with me, I guess.  Well, lesson learned... I felt infinitely better after some Greek yogurt and herbal tea, and the cravings subsided. Still feeling bloated and lethargic - funny to think this is the way I felt virtually all the time not too long ago.  I guess you don't realize you were feeling bad till you start to feel good. Now I have to figure out what to do with all the leftovers!

Find someone to give the leftovers to.

We had our Christmas party at our house and had it catered. I had ordered way too much food. I did eat but mostly ate protein but some was higher in fat than others . I didn't touch the desserts. I had someone who was working the party for me.I had her freeze the stuff that could be frozen.I gave people leftovers when they left the party. The desserts I them home with some of our guests. One thing is funny that is last year before surgery I would have housed so much food at the party. Then I would sneak out of my room and eat. I would feel like crap from Thanksgiving till after News Year. One thing is you felt sick which I am not going to say is a bad thing. It really shows us what we can and can't eat.I always had a hard time throwing food away. But then I was thinking  am I a  human trash can ? Get rid of the leftovers.

A local homeless shelter would love the extra food.  We are a rural county outside Asheville and we have a couple of soup kitchens here.  Call the Salvation Army and they can help you find a place to donate the food.
