One Year Surgiversary

A year ago yesterday I took the plunge and joined the losers bench.  What began as a process of a 488 pound man trying to get to a point where I could even have RNY eventually got me to a year ago and, at 433 pounds, I had my procedure.  I began walking as soon as I could get out of bed and have not stopped since.  This morning I weighed 236 pounds and have not felt this good in years.  I work out six days a week and just started training for a half marathon in June which I am hoping to run the whole distance.  It is not easy but I understand that I am now, and will always be, a work in progress.  The tool we have been given is amazing but the mind can still be an obstacle if you allow it to be.  This site has been an awesome almost daily reminder of that for me and deserves a ton of credit for keeping me accountable to myself.  I have been lurking for a while just checking in to get my reminders while life has been happening but thought it appropriate to post today to catch up.  BTW...went to Disney for eight days around Thanksgiving and the people we went with remarked over and over about how I was like the kid on the trip...wanted to ride everything because I could and last time I sat and waited for others to tell me about what they had experienced.  I did it all, did five miles of treadmill work six out of eight days, walked the park and actually lost almost three pounds while there.  I enjoyed it, I lived it and I loved it!  Wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
