bariatric friendly canoli!!

I came up with an easy recipe for a "canoli" type treat that I really liked so I thought I'd share.

I purchased these pre-made crepes in the produce department.  They have 50 calories, 1 gram of fat, a gram protein and 9 carbs.   A whole one is pretty big, so I cut them in half, but if you have room in your daily plan and your pouch, you can probably eat the whole thing.   I rolled them  so that there is a hole in the middle for filling (like a canoli) and toasted for a short time to get them crunchy.   Be careful, they burn quickly because they are so thin.

Then I used 1/4 cup of ricotta cheese, some splenda and vanilla extract to taste.   Then added 1 teaspoon of mini chocolate chips and mixed together until smooth.   Stuffed into the "shell".

It was very filling and will be a great dessert to serve when I have company eating other heavier things.   Its not super high in protein, but 1/4 cup of ricotta has 5 grams of protein and has been on my plan since I was allowed mushy food.

Wonderful recipe.  This is exactly the type of dessert that will help you to lose the weight and maintain your loss.  Thanks for sharing.

I can't eat cottage cheese as it is so salty and gross to me, but from early on I used fat free cream cheese whipped with splenda and fat free cool whip as a protein source.  I used to eat it plain when I was newly post op, actually used to dip my frozen protein wafers in it and then switched it too a dip for fruit etc, base for ambrosia and other desserts once I got farther along.  It would work perfectly in this regard and it has 4 grams of protein per ounce which is pretty good.

Did you just use one pkg of cream cheese, one container of SF cool whip and spenda to taste?
