Eating crap.. don't know how to deal with stress!

Please talk to someone about depression, and make an appointment with your dietician about your eating habits. Go back to basics, lean protein first. If you stop buying this processed junk, it won't be there for you to eat at home. You said you don't want to think about eating, but you obviously are, just all the wrong things.

If you stay in this pattern, you will only become more depressed as you gain weight. Please break the pattern now.

Seek help for your depression. It's hard to make good choices when you are depressed.  That said, depression is not an excuse to not take care of yourself! You are not eating meals. Meal replacements are sometimes necessary (some mornings I just can't eat breakfast at 6 weeks out so I have to supplement with liquid nutrition) but they are NOT real food! There are tons of bariatric healthy recipes out there. World according to eggface, bariatric foodie etc.

protein first (real sources: eggs, lean meat, seafood, tofu, beans!) then green or non starch veggies. If there is room, complex carbs. If I were you I'd cut out the fiber one bars and quest bars and throw out the dang ice cream.

The only person you need to be accountable to is you. I hope you can find the strength to change!

Better get some help - fast.  Or you'll have to revise your Ticker from 84.4 pounds lost to what?  40.4 ponds lost, then 20.4 pounds lost?????

See a therapist, or does your WL surgeon have post-op support groups?

Don't let the wonderful work you've done so far go to waste.

Has something specific happened in your life causing these problems, or have they been ongoing?  You have to resolve the problem!

I wish you strength to take positive action.

Still learning.  Currently in pre-op stage.

Hello Laura,

I'm so sorry you are going through this rough patch. You need to get back to basics. First get rid of all the trigger foods in your house that's causing you to binge. Seek professional help to get a handle on stressing. Protein first then veggies. I want you to be successful so don't beat yourself up over this. Add me as a friend.

Good Luck!!!

Thank you everyone. I won't lie the junk is still in my house and my ex-husband threw ice cream in my carriage when we were food shopping going to have to go alone from now on... since i do the spending!! I took a couple bites tonight and had ONE lemon bar and even though i should be having NONE it's a huge improvement from the 4-5 day i was having. I've been giving them as snacks to my kids for school so they are gone and i will NOT rebuy them. The kids Halloween candy is still sitting in my closet and i almost want to tra**** but feel bad for my kids because they occassionally ask for it all though it's not something they need i feel like i am punishing them by trashing it. Today for breakfast i had a protein shake and a mini egg quiche which had shredded cheese, turkey sausage, onions, mushrooms, chopped broccoli, and seasonings. Funny thing is too at 10 months post op i couldn't even eat the whole thing which is the size of a muffin. Had a little ketchup with it and was yummy. Have had some greek yogurt this afternoon and a fruitare bar for a snack today. Dinner had a quest protein bar and some baby carrots with hummus. Will have a cheese stick before bed and maybe more carrots and hummus and prob a packet of oatmeal.

I made 24 mini egg quiches so i froze about 12 of them. I also made hard boiled eggs so i will be peeling them tomorrow and making egg salad. I have to grab a few essentials tomorrow such as cottage cheese, more hummus, greek yogurts, more frozen greek yogurt bars, frozen fruit, almond milk and reg skim milk, prob some wheat thins, and greek yogurt dip, and i need more almonds. Any other suggestions?

I urge you with all my heart to go to http://www.oa.org & find an Overeaters Anonymous meeting near you. They also have online & telephone meetings.

And don't stop there: Visit http://www.aa.org & find an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Think you're not an alcoholic? Who cares? The 12-step programs are a godsend in every way & can only help. Double-check with your surgeon & primary-care physician: Did they instruct you to completely eliminate ANY alcohol from your life? Mine did. Thank heaven I'd already gotten sober decades before my RNY.

I'm begging you to seek outside help. I wish you only the best!

Looking at your grocery list and what you have eaten today... I would skip the oatmeal and the wheat thins.  They are too high in carbs and will slow your weight loss and they will make you crave more carbs. You might want to limit your fruit intake for awhile too.  Eating too much fruit will slow your weight loss also.  Fruit is a healthy snack...but it is still a sugar should be limited.  Your diet should be mostly protein and vegetables.  I noticed that you did not eat any meat.  If you are only getting your protein from bars and shakes... you will be more hungry.  Eating dense protein... like a chicken breast... keeps you feeling full longer.  Also be careful about egg salads.  The stuff you use to make it can trip you up... and if you are eating it with a bunch of crackers... not good.  Try making your egg salad with onion, celery, and a little Greek yogurt.  I like to eat it on cucumber slices.  I noticed that you drank a protein shake and ate something too for one of your meals.  You shouldn't be drinking and eating at the same time.  Your protein shake is considered a liquid and will wash the solid food out of your pouch if consumed at the same time.  This will make you hungrier...sooner.  No drinking with meals... it's one of the most important rules of WLS.
