How often do you weigh?
I'm a little over five years out. I don't own a scale, so I only weigh at my doctor's office.
Maybe you would find it easier not to weigh if you put the scale away somewhere where it was not convenient to get to it.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I am just over six months out, with RNY
I weight myself on Fridays...it brings my weight to the forefront and ( I feel) helps me get through the weekend, the toughest part of the week for me. Cooking/food choices during the week are easy for me to follow but on the weekends (when my kids stop by, out shopping, company comes over) that's when I struggle. So having that number fresh in my mind from Friday pushes me through the weekend.

I am addicted to the scale.I have two bathrooms.I think I am going to put it in the one that I don't shower in.This past week I became obsessed and was on it at least three times a day.I would use the potty then get on the scale then get a shower then weigh myself.I think I want to buy a new one also.It sometimes gives me different weights.I know I am losing my clothes are getting bigger. But the scale thing drives me crazy.

I am just under 5 months out and i have weighed myself daily. it hasn't really upset me to often. It seems my most frustrating time is when i am stuck on same weight. I was stuck for almost a month and a 1/2. most days it didn't bother me because i wasn't gaining but it was a little frustrating at times wondering when it was going to start to move again.
I hope to be free from the scale at some point as well but it is a very very very hard habit to break at this time.
I weigh on only one scale and only when I know I have lost weight. My clothes tell that story. Would I step on the scale right now. No. But the holidays are over and I am on my normal eating schedule now so hopefully some day when I feel really thin I will jump back on the scale. Last I saw it said 128, and unless I see a different number that is what I weigh. lol The scale has always been my enemy so I used it only as a reward system when I was positive I had lost weight. That made it fun, otherwise I avoid it like the plague and go by how my clothes fit. I own nothing larger then a size 6, if those get tight I am screwed.
I am a daily weigher during the week, weekends no. I don't have a scale at home. I work for a cardiologist, and his Dr scale sits right outside my office. So my daily routine is to get to work take off my shoes and weigh, then I don't touch it again till the next morning. For me it keeps me in check. I went years with out stepping on a scale to avoid it and the weight crept on. I realize there will be ups and downs, I give myself a 3 pound leeway. It doesn't ruin my day if I am up a couple, I am only 5 months out VSG. And at this point I am used to the weird way I drop weight, but if I am up then I know that my diet must stay on track no matter what. Its a way of holding myself responsible.
Almost 9 years out.
Weight just about every day (unless I'm not home or running late in the morning).
I've done this for 9 years and it doesn't affect me mentally. I use it as the tool it's intended to be FOR ME. Some people deal better with the ups, downs, and non-movements where others are emotionally impacted. Do what's best for you, even it if means getting rid of the scale.

I am 4 months out. I weighed daily prior to surgery and continue to weigh daily post surgery. As other people have said-it keeps me focused and I don't base my mood on daily (or longer) fluctuations. Given that, I realize that some people do and you need to do what is best for yourself. I wish you the best with whatever decision you make.
