What's on the menu today, RNY-ers?
Hi all,
Awesome participation in the thread yesterday, and I love seeing new names/faces and seeing what you're eating. So many of you have a similar calorie account to me, but more protein, so I am working on maximizing my protein and staying at the same calories. Sadly I think it means re-incorporating shakes. After a month of shakes (December) I really have tried to avoid them but that 30 g of protein is just too important!
Time Since Surgery: 8 weeks 1 day (I have my second post-opp appt later today)
B: One egg fried in Pam spray, hard. I put half a slice of pepperjack cheese on it, with salt and pepper and Frank's red hot sauce
L: 1.3 oz of tuna mixed with a tbsp of dill pickly relish and less than 1 tbsp of light mayo, on 2 cheese crisps
S: Premier Protein vanilla shake
D: Meal 3 (of 4) from my Chipotle burrito bowl (chicken, peppers and onions, salsa, a tiny bit of sour cream and cheese, and GUAC!)
My totals will be 660 calories, 33 g of fat, 18 g of carbs, and 71 g of protein. I am usually just over 60 g of protein so this is good.
V: On track, but I have been taking the wrong calcium (ugh) so I will get a new brand reco today from my NUT
W: Always - I do at least 80 oz a day
E: None planned. It's so cold out, I can't bear the thought of walking outside today :(
What's on your menu today?

Breakfast - cappuccino protein shake
Snack - apple slices with almond butter - I still feel a little hungry, though, so I think I'm gonna have some hot chocolate
Lunch - tomato soup with shredded cheddar
Snack - probably a protein bar, I have to go somewhere this afternoon so I need to eat a snack in my car while I drive
Dinner - I don't know. Maybe Subway. If I go to Subway, I get a six-inch sub with cheese and veggies and eat half and then bring the other half home for later.
Snack - maybe the other half of my sub, if I have Subway for dinner. If not, probably Carbmaster yogurt.

If you want a chewable one, you'll probably have to order it online. Most stores do not carry chewable calcium citrate. Citracal makes "petites" which are a little smaller than most calcium pills but they are still not tiny. They only have 200 mg per pill so you'd need eight to ten a day. You might like Upcal D, which is a powder you can mix in any drink.

I like it. I need to order some more. I usually use that for one dose of calcium citrate a day, in my protein shake. If you let your drink sit a little, the powder starts to collect on the bottom, but you just shake it or stir it and it mixes back in. You can also put it in stuff like yogurt or pudding. I think a couple people have commented that they thought it make their drinks gritty and didn't dissolve well but nearly everyone I know that's tried it has liked it and feel it dissolves just fine. It's cheaper than chewable calcium, too.

I use up cal D too, got the idea from Kelly. Along with generic calcium citrate petites. I have 6 petites (in 3 doses of 2) and either 1 scoop Upcal D or one Calcet creamy bite (chewable, soft, kind of like a truffle made of calcium citrate:) and yummy
