yogurt, cheese, meat (any, if you don't cook then there are deli and canned meats, bu****ch out for the sodium, tuna is good), cottage cheese, eggs, beans (watch carbs)....... I'm sure you'll get other ideas and maybe even someone will come on with a few quick/easy recipes. Meso

I became somewhat lactose intolerent also after surgery, I get the runs tho'. I can eat "processed dairy" like cheese but not stuff like "true dairy" ie...ice cream, milk. So when I get constipated I opt for 2 Tbls of my favorite ice cream Breyers mint choco chip instead of yucky meds! Some good sources of protein....tunafish salad, ham salad, peanut butter, string cheese, beans, chicken salad, "solid protein keeps you full longer" ie..steak, chicken, pork chop vs cottage cheese & yogurt. I'm not sure how far out from surgery you are so chk w/your Dr. for your diet. Good luck, Pat

Have you looked into soy products? They have yogurts, milk, cheeses etc. and the taste is good. I don't know the carb count on them, some are different then others. Just need to read the labels. I really enjoy soy yogurt over dairy yogurt and for now (pre-op) Vanilla Soy Milk is almost all I drink. I have a carton of Unsweetened Soy Milk, it is ok, but I like the vanilla much better. I don't know what it is like to be lactose intolerant, so I can't help you with your symtoms. Lori

I just discovered the South Beach Diet Cereal bars and they are good. Ten grams of protein in them with like 5-7 grams of sugar and I forget the other stats on them but I was impressed with the protein content. Makes a nice snack or even a breakfast meal. Can you have the fruity protein drinks? Like any of the Nectars? THey have samples at ValleyNutrition.com for $1.50 each with no shipping charges. They just are mixed with water or crystal light or whatever drink like that. My favorite is Roadside Lemonade mixed with Lemon Propel water. Also, another snack idea I like to do is take a piece of luncheon ham, low fat, etc., and spread one of the triangles of Laughing Cow creamy swiss cheese over top of it and roll it up like a cigar. It's really good, filling and the protein count is pretty good. Don't remember right off what it is though. Good luck, Lori

i seem to be going toward the lactose intolerance ,if i drink coffee and milk i get a cold like symtom, gas,and bloat for a few hour, got a very positive response to just one does a week of latase tolerance tabs and aphadillas (spelling) bateria, from supplement counter, seemed to cure a very long term sever gas problem. on the protien, unjury, see flyer at left is nice, limited to two flavors, or try the wal mart hy energy body building protien powders, cheap, you can find many outlets, on company i tried was dps, and the product dymatize, toffe elite, delishouse, with whey powders, remeber to mix in cool /warm liquid, in hot,the clump. my goal is good tastse ,no more that 120 cal ,60 mg sodium,10 carbs . to a 1oz of powder.ration, 20 grams protien to 8-110z of fluid is too much for a 4-6 oz pouch. and 200 calories , you didnt get wls to eat fat. good luck and may you pond of life be calm
