Hi OH friends,

This post keeps me honest and accountable, so thanks for posting your menus to inspire me and others!

As some of you know, I'm on a business trip in Mexico. Well,  I am sort of beating myself up because at dinner last night I ate enough guacamole to probably be my meal :( With a fork, not with chips. And then half an hour later tre 2 of the 4 grilled langostinos that were served to me (I am thinking maybe 3 oz total). My food choices were good but I'm scared at my lack of restriction (for the most part) and that I could eat that much at 11 weeks out :(I am thinking that guacamole is probably a slider food and that's why, but I still scared myself.

Well today is a new day so I just went to the hotel gym and did one hour on the treadmill at 3.0 mph and then lifted weights for 15 minutes. So I am going to move on and eat less today!!!

Time since surgery: 11 weeks 3 days

B1: half of a protein shake before the gym (disgusting Blue Bonnet strawberry mixed with water)

B2: omelette of 1.5 eggs, 1 oz turkey, tbsp of jalapeño, tbsp of onion and 2 tbsp cheese

L and D: TBD. I hate not being able to plan my day! I can't wait to get home!

I've had 39 g of protein so far so I am confident I will make my protein numbers (70+ g)

V: on track

W: plan to finish 2nd 20 Oz bottle in next hour

What are you eating today? And can anyone eat the quantities that I can? Lol

I don't know what I'm eating today, but I also can eat pretty large quantities. The other day, I ate my 4oz turkey and about 1 1/2c steamed veggie, and I was satisfied, but 20 min later I ate my Quest protein bar. Didn't feel hungry, just craved the darn thing, and it went down fine. I was definitely too full afterward, but no negative consequences. GRRH - I wish I didn't eat so much, but I have to weigh and measure everything to stay accountable. My eyeballs deceive me and I also think I'm eating less than I actually am. I have to travel for the next 3 weeks - 2 of those weeks to Singapore, so starting to really worry about airplane eating and eating out of my comfort zone while out of the country. Great job getting back to basics today, DCGirl!! I'm on my 2nd cup of decaf, then will workout, then think about breakfast.

I hear you on the concern! I know I can't bust out my kitchen scale at a birthday dinner but I just feel so uncomfortable without it! I was ok as far as airport/plane time because it's only a 5 hour flight. I ate a string cheese at the gate and some of the nuts and half of the piece of chicken I was served for dinner. But with such a long trip, you may want to pack a small insulated lunch bag with food for the flight? The only thing that makes me feel remotely full is chicken, so maybe pack some chicken or other meats, portioned out? I feel for you and make sure to check in and we will try to motivate you like you motivate me :)

Awesome that you're starting your day with a workout-then there is no excuse later when you're tired :) I wish I were a morning person but today was an anomaly lol! Have a great day :)

Well, I'm not traveling so I have no reasons for going off plan.  I've pretty much planned out my meals.

B  1 egg omelette w/ham,cheese and onions

S  1/2 Isopure protein grape drink

L  White beans w/lean ham

D  Shrimp coctail w/cooked spinach

S  Popcorn

Will do the treadmill later today and on schedule with fluids and vitamins.

Hi DCgirl -  Your in Mexico, how awesome is that! Good weather and great tasting food !

On portion sizes, it's trial and error until we get things spot on. You are on the learning curve now so just tweak it around a little bit until your comfortable with your amount sizes. I am so much more comfortable eating my "routine" (at home) then having to change things up when I travel. My family has been great about it and they now are asking what type of food should they pick up for me to have in their homes when I visit. If I stay longer than a few days they will have stuff on hand for me and sometimes, just sometimes, will eat some of my healthier food choices with me (not all the time) LOL

Celebrate the fact that you did an hour on the treadmill and then did 15 minutes of lifting weights! I don't think I'll ever hit an hour on the treadmill (I have to really push to get to 45 minutes). Your exercise has been awesome !

Time since surgery: just over 7 months

B: Chocolate protein shake (lite Silk soymilk / water) SF Caramel syrup

L:  2 oz Pork, 1/2 cup spinach

D:  Baked Fish w/lemon seasonings, salad w/onion, cucumber, vinaigrette dressing

S:  beef jerky, and  Greek yogurt or cottage cheese (undecided)

V: right on track

E:  30 minutes on bike, 1 hour swimming

That is so awesome that your family is so supportive!  Mine is too, but then they do things like offer me the inside of a cheese/pepperoni bread and it boggles my mind lol.  They just don't know what is on plan, but they are sooo excited for me.  Yeah, traveling has not been kind.  I never do a full hour on the treadmill either but I was really upset with myself for yesterday's calories so I made myself.  I was also on a conference call so I had something to "do" while walking.  I am hoping my morning meeting tomorrow is canceled so I can do another intense workout.  This guacamole has got to stop jumping down my throat ;)  Ok, ok, it's my fault...I know.

You still eat SUCH small portions.  Good for you.  Your menu looks tasty.  And a 1.5 hour workout is not too shabby either!!!

Sorry about your partner. Relationships are hard after we start to find ourselves. My husband and I struggled for most of the first couple of years after my surgery, but we made it and now he is looking at himself more and we started being healthy together. Things will work out! Hugs

It is hard! I find myself becoming more depressed. Its like I just don't want to be free at times. Just need time time to myself. Thanks for the encouraging words LiviAnn! =)

Oh nooooo, Kenyatta :(  I am so sorry to hear that.  Sometimes I seriously wonder how any relationships last.  They're TOUGH.  My boyfriend and I broke up 6 days after my surgery and 3 days before Christmas.  It's hard to deal with this kind of trouble and not turn to food (our former trusty companion in times of stress).  Great job still eating on plan and working out, even with all of this going on.  I'm here for you if you need an ear!!!  Hugs to you and I hope you guys had a good chat this evening.  EM
