What's on the menu today, RNY-ers?
Hi OH Friends! Thanks for some good posts yesterday - sorry I never had a chance to respond. We even had a new first-time poster :)
I had the strangest thing happen last night and maybe some of you who are further out than I am can advise me what happened! I had my turkey bacon for breakfast, my leftover from SuperBowl (frozen since then!) turkey chili for lunch, and for dinner went to have Pho with a friend. I asked for the vegetarian broth, with chicken in it, and no noodles. I did add hoisin sauce and sriracha. Hoisin sauce is much worse for me than I knew - once I logged it I found that 2 tbsp has 80 calories, 19 g of carbs and 1 g of protein! Lesson learned! Anyway, since we can't drink after eating, I had maybe 1/2 or 3/4 cups of the broth, and then ate about 2 ounces of chicken. I suddenly didn't feel great, and thankfully made it home before having the foamies :( You know, where you are "spitting up" phlegm and spit and foam. Well that lasted for hours! And I kept hiccuping and then finally started throwing up (though there really wasn't much food to throw up). This lasted until about 12:30 when I finally went to sleep. I woke up today and feel ok. I had vitamins and yogurt and now I am working on water. So my question is, did I have 4 hours of foamies or did I dump or was this some weird stomach flu? All ideas welcome!
Anyway, on to today's plan:
B: Light and Fit greek yogurt banana creme
L: If I can, 3 oz of honey roasted turkey and one ounce of hard parmesan cheese
D: Shrimp fajitas with onion and a little cheese and sour cream
V: So far, so good
W: Won't be an issue
E: 30 minutes on the treadmill and a 50 minute training session (I usually just do 25!)
My menu adds up to about 600 calories, 62 g of protein, 22 g of fat and 22 g of carbs. I have really only been getting to 60 g of protein lately. I need to increase that. I think I am going to have to have an afternoon snack.
What's on your menu today?
Sorry you had foamies. I like the variety you have planned for the day. I will have a quest banana nut muffin bar, a steak portabella lean cuisine, a pro muscle milk mint chocolate shake.

The pro muscle milk that I drink are bottled and I get them at Shell Marts.

hi!
That sounds like plain old foamies to me, I have only had it once or twice, miserable! I am glad you are feeling better.
Plan for today:
B: chocolate shake
S: almonds and raisins and carrots
L: black beans with some mexican style pulled pork and onions and peppers
S: more almonds and raisins (totally need new snack ideas now that i am off the dairy, ugh)
D: hmmm, maybe more beans and pork, or maybe I will stop and get some turkey slices at the deli on my way home
S: I will probably have something when I get home from work (really long day today, won't be home today till 10pm)
I have been off dairy for a week and am feeling so much better. I tried a protein bar yesterday and that messed me up, there was no dairy or gluten in it so I guessing it was just too much carbs or something. It is a royal pain to be on this elimination diet but I am feeling like I am getting somewhere and it is great to be feeling better. Also, I feel so much less bloated and lost a bit of weight this week. Woo hoo!
And, I am busy getting a babysitter for Saturday so I can do a huge hike with my husband. yippeeeee!
If anyone has ideas for easy snacky things that have no dairy/gluten/grain I would appreciate it!
Yeah, I think it was the foamies but it just lasted so LONG!
I am glad you are finding out that dairy is the problem (although I am sorry that dairy is the problem lol). I would recommend having meats for snacks. Like, a piece of thick cut turkey bacon. Or 1 or 2 ounces of high quality deli turkey. Or some sort of jerky? I just bought some teriyaki turkey jerky at Target yesterday. That snack is like 11 ounces of protein which is much better than almonds and raisins.
That's so awesome that you are planning a big hike with your hubs! I love how much WLS changes our lives :)
I eat a variety of nuts, pumpkin/sunflower seeds and dry roasted edamame for snacks. I really like the pre-packaged ones but I snack sized ziplock bags and have them filled with pre-measured snacks ready to grab. There is always celery, carrots and olives. Now they sell pre-packaged pb cups ready to go also. Emerald makes dark cocoa almonds, cinnamon almonds and salt and vinegar almond packets too. Hope this gives you a bigger variety.

I deserve some sort of special award today, but I'll just have to pat myself on the back instead!! I brought in bagels, cream cheese and orange juice for the entire staff at my school today and didn't eat any of it. I had a Light and Fit greek yogurt. I plan to have Wendy's chili for lunch and spaghetti for dinner (I'll just have the meat sauce and no noodles). I may have a snack or two. I haven't decided yet!
Isn't that the best feeling??? I know what you mean! I hosted a brunch for friends and I served bagels and croissants and mimosas and fruit, along with crustless quiches and a cheese plate and bacon (the 3 things I could eat) and I stayed on plan and watched them eat all those lucsious carbs and I survived :) And I lost weight that week, and that made it all worth it :) So good for you! That's kickass! We had the same breakfast today :)
