What's on the menu today, RNYers?
Hi folks!
Off to NYC tomorrow for 3 days so JJ or someone else will be posting through the weekend :)
I realize just how accountable this post makes me because whenever I start this post, I say "Oh I have to take my vitamins!" lol. Thanks for keeping me on track and honest.
B: 12 oz of unsweetened almond milk, 1.5 scoops Syntrax mint cookie (larger shake than normal to increase protein)
L: 3 oz of German doner kebab meat with onions and a tiny bit of cabbage and 2 tbsp of tatziki-like sauce
D: TBD
E: 30 minutes treadmill, 25 minutes personal training
W: 12 oz of almond milk done, 10 oz of coffee at my desk, 24 oz water bottle filled up with ice and water at my desk too!
V: On track now
My totals WITHOUT dinner are almost 500 calories, 49 g of protein, 26 g fat, 12 g carbs. Dinner will be around 200 calories and hopefully another 25 g protein. Slightly concerned about having high protein numbers in NYC this weekend. I will only eat protein, and eat 3 meals per day, but without shakes, it's tough. I am going to put some Syntrax nectar packets in my purse to add to water, now that I think of it!
What's on your menu today? Em
Morning! Yes DCgirl, I will do the thread this weekend since I am on CST get up early. I am glad we do this post for accountability too. I am out of Equal and Splenda so I will not be having my second cup of coffee until later. RATS! I cannot wait to go to Dollar General! LOL! Off I go! Have a great weekend everybody!

To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.”― Marc Hack

DCGirl, don't stress too much about protein for one weekend. I have found that every once in a great while, if I am traveling for the weekend, I go higher in carbs for a few days and it actually triggers weight loss. Monday I go back to the higher protein plan. You will also be walking ALL DAY, so you will get tons of steps in. When I went to NYC in December, I had some of those fantastic spiced almonds that the street vendors sold. . .yes, some sugar, but a super yummy protein and totally NY treat. Enjoy your trip. When I was there, we ate at Guy's Kitchen (from Food Network), Carmine's (just ate a meatball) and Rosa Mexican. . . THE BEST GUACAMOLE ever. They make it fresh for you right at your table and I know you are a guacamole fan.
Ocalasam, there is a Rosa Mexicana in DC three blocks from my office (by the Verizon Center!). It's AMAZING! We are eating at Tamarind, The Odeon, Blue Ribbon Bakery and Kitchen, and Kitchenette. I will eat protein only, but you know even if I get egg whites and cheese and bacon for breakfast, it will be like 12 g of protein...so I will be short for the day. I definitely do not feel comfortable going off plan yet but you are a skinny minnie so you can do it :)
Guy's Kitchen - is that Guy Fieri? I love love love him! I love Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives!
Have an awesome time in NYC, Em! I love New York in the springtime, it's sooo lovely.
The hormone dump continues for me and I find myself completely weepy every night around 8pm until bedtime. But the sun is shining, it isn't 4 million degrees inside the Library today, my Little Pip had a good visit at the neurologist yesterday and has gotten meds...so I think it's going to be a good day!
I went to my clinic's support group last night and it was...interesting. I think I'll go one more time to give it another chance, but I didn't so much feel the...support in the group.
4 weeks, 2 days post-RNY
B: 1/4 cup LF cottage cheese, 1oz unsweetened applesauce made especially for me by my lovely Mama
S: 8oz Lemon Tea Nectar protein shake
L: egg salad made from 1 hard boiled egg
S: 8oz Roadside Lemonade Nectar protein shake
D: 1/4 cup chicken salad, 1/4 cup diced peaches (if I have room)
S: 8oz Double Stuffed Cookies Nectar Sweets protein shake made with unsweetened almond milk
V: on track
W: still struggling to get more in
E: taking a walk with my nieces while my sister makes dinner - on Thursdays I go to their house for dinner and free laundry (I live in an apartment and hate having to find enough quarters to do laundry, my sister only lives 1 mile away now - carrying the laundry to and from the car is exercise, right?)

I have basement coin laundry and it's the worst! I agree! I hate when I see hairs on the washer UGH! (says the girl who is shedding like an afghan dog lol)
That's super sweet that your mom made unsweetened apple sauce. If my mom lived close she would cook me WLS meals three times a day. Gotta love supportive people!
My support group sucks too. It's mostly pre-ops (it's mandatory to go once) and then a few post-ops who talk about how you can still have a piece of your great Aunt Lily's cake. Oy. I kind of feel like "the voice of reason". Weigh your food, don't eat lots of carbs, exercise...
Happy to hear about Little Pip!!! Hoping that the same meds that worked for her sister work for her. So scary :(
Hi AnnyBananny,
Quick note on the hormone dump. I went through that about 3 weeks ago and it was awful (for me it was rage, I was angry at the world and I couldn't figure out why....I swear I'm not an angry person). Luckily it only lasted about a week (I'm almost 3 months post op). My point is, there's a light at the end of the tunnel and luckily it crazy hormones don't last too long. Good luck to your niece.
Glad to hear things are going well for Pip, Anny. The hormone thing...oh, I feel you, hon. It gets better, though, really. Hang in there!

Enjoy the weekend! Hope the weather cooperates for you, NYC is miserable when it's cold and rainy. I agree with the advice to not fret too much about protein for the weekend. For just a couple of days, you should be fine. Good call on the packets of protein drink mix, though!

Have a great day, everyone!

Hello everyone! Hey DC! Finally back to a normal schedule after vacation. Texas was wonderful and everyday was sunny and in the 80's! Perfect. I did fairly well and stayed on plan. The worst thing I ate was a spoon of my mothers potato salad. I just had to. No tortillas or pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread) for me. Boo hoo...
Time since surgery: will be 4 months this Saturday
B: 2oz baked pork loin chops , 1 oz broccoli, bite of baked potato
S: half lemon with salt
L: 2 pieces wasa crisp bread, 1 oz roasted red pepper hummus, 2 oz cracked black pepper turkey
S: 8oz unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 scoop strawberry protein powder, 1/2 small gala apple with 1T pb2
D: 2oz grilled steak(my first time to try steak), asparagus, salad
Had my 4 month check up yesterday and every looked great the PA said. She did say the weight loss would be slowing down and said they would not determine a goal weight until I was 1 year post op. I won't see my actual surgeon until 1 yr post op. I was disappointed about that.
703 cals, 74 g protein, 48 g carbs, 28g fat, 12 fiber
I did lose 6 pounds while on vacation. Hubby gained 7! Walking is definitely boosting my loss. Got to keep it up!
V: on track
E: Taught a deep water aerobics class this morning. Now need to walk walk walk!
W: need to get on it.
