Em, what a great picture, you look great! Love that top!
I hope everyone had a great Easter, it sounds like people made lots of good food choices. I have to second Daisy's comment about food not controlling me anymore, I think for me, that's the biggest NSV of them all. I used to obsess about food and I could eat so much, and now it's just not an issue. Yesterday there was so much good food around me, and it didn't phase me at all. I ate protein first and socialized with my family. 4 months ago, I would have spent the whole day eating and focusing on the food. I love moments like that where I realize not only have I changed physically (the hunger is gone), but mentally too (not to say I still don't deal with head hunger, but it's in check now where before it seemed to run my life).
Time since surgery: 3 months
B - Siggi's greek yogurt
L - Premier Protein
S - Premier Protein
D - Eggsalad Tofu (recipe (this is about 3 servings for me): 7 oz firm tofu patted dry, 1 tbsp of mustard, 1 tbsp of mayo, and 1 tbsp of Spike seasoning (I highly recomend this stuff, its salt free and makes everything taste better. I just discovered it and I put it on everything).
1/2 Red bell pepper and 1/2 cucumber
Totals: 653 cals; Protein 86, Carbs - 32
V - Forgot them at home, will take tonight
W - Ok, need to pick it up
E - I'm going to try Jillian Michael's 30 day shred tonight, hopefully that'll go well.
Have a great week everyone!
That's an amazing NSV about not feeing controlled by food. I still obsess over food because I have to carefully plan and measure to make sure I get all my protein in, since I am on a 3 meals a day no snacks plan. So I don't have the option to get 15 g of protein in a meal, you know what I mean? But YES I agree that although I have some head hunger at times (especially if I am bored****rtainly feel more in control of my life. I am sure it's a long process but I feel positive so far, and I hadn't even thought about it until now, so thanks!
Keep us posted on how Jillian Michaels' 30 day shred is!

Mmm your menu looks good! Way to get your protein numbers up :) I would love to get 90+ g of protein a day but I just can't seem to do it. I am supposed to eat 3 meals and no snacks. I normally "cheat" and have one snack in the afternoon - a protein shake will get my numbers up). Our lunch is the exact same today LOL.
My plan says no snacks. If i didn't snack I would be at 50-55 g of protein. This weekend proved that to me. I am getting board with my meals so I need to change it up. But it is hard to think of something yummy to cook when you aren't ever hungry!
I'm intrigued by this no snacks thing. I looked back over my materials and I didn't really find anything on incorporating snacks. I'm adding snacks to my list of questions for my next visit with the NUT on Thursday.
At this point I'm "snacking" on protein shakes which is what my plan calls for, but once I move into regular food land, I wonder what their recommendation is. I'll see the NUT this week and then not again for 2 months, so between now and then I'll probably want to know!
I already foresee needing snacks and to keep my energy up.

Well this post got me wondering as well, so I went back and looked at my post-op diet instructions again. It doesn't reference snacks at all, either to include or exclude them. All it says is "Eat 2-3 meals per day." But the recommended protein amount in the same plan is only 50 grams. 50 would be easy enough to get with 2 to three meals, but I feel more comfortable with the higher number of 80 or 90 protein. My calorie and macro counts are good according to my NUT, so I'm going to continue with my current "3 meals plus a couple of snacks if desired" plan.
Another case of "Don't do what I do," since I'm all for following your (generic you) doctor's instructions. However I feel the modifications I've done with my plan are best suited to give me the greatest shot at success. Communicate with your NUT and doctor, and get their buy in whenever possible.

For what it's worth "Snacks" was the topic of my last support group. Our NUT says that she's firmly against snacks (or rather unplanned snacks) as she thinks they are the primary reason for re-gain. She feels if people plan snacks into their overall daily totals they do fine (and some people need snacks and some people don't), but it's the unaccounted for snacks that are people's downfall and she feels like if people "allow" themselves snacks then as they get farther out and arent' tracking as diligently snacks will be what does them in.
Her other point on snacks is that because we eat such small quantities when we snack, we don't really feel the pouch restriction, which allows us to overeat when snacking and really adds up throughout the day.
Anyways, I hope this helps. I just figured it was relevant since we just had the meeting a week ago.
