Speaking of cutting down on coffee, I had to cut down on coffee when I started MFP because it pointed out that I was consuming too much creamer. LOL! I had a couple hundred calories in creamer. Seriously.

To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.”― Marc Hack

Good Morning Everyone,

I posted what my NUT's opinion on snacking was yesterday and I agree 100% with Pam.  So long as it's planned and tracked I think snacks are ok (everyone's different and I truly believe some people need snacks).  It's when you aren't counting that you get into trouble.  For what it's worth, what brought on the snack discussion at my support group was a woman who was 8 months out from surgery had gained 6 lbs the month before.  She was saying how she followed the plan, protein first, etc. etc.  Well after a few more questions from the NUT it came out that she was grazing/snacking on almonds throughout the day.  She was saying how she didn't count them but just took a few at a time multiple times a day.  Our NUT broke down what that looked like calorie and fat wise and said she could almost guarantee that was the cause of the weight gain.  She also said that if this woman was letting herself graze on almonds, she may be letting other bites here and there in and how easily it was for those unplanned bites to add up and throw off our plan.  Needless to say it put the fear of god into me, b/c regain does stress me out.  I'm just using it as a stark reminder that all meals must be planned and counted in order to stay on track. It was the lack of tracking that got me to this point in the first place.

Time since surgery: 3 months

B - Greek yogurt w/ chia seeds

L - Premier Protein

D - Premier Protein (and maybe some chia seed pudding if I want/need it)

Totals - cals 470, protein - 77, carbs - 27 (this is w/o the chia seed pudding)

E - None

V - on track

W - need to pick it up

Oooh yeah, I love almonds but for 170 calories per serving (28 nuts) and only 6 g of protein, it's not the best snack choice.  It's a good choice, I think, but not enough bang for the buck.  I would be so freaked out if I gained in the first year.  I am trying to work this honeymoon period to the best of my ability.  I am also a psychotic food tracker in MFP.

What's funny is that I watch the Food Network while I am on the treadmill (I feel sort of embarrassed by this, but I like to watch cooking shows since I might learn something and I am trying to cook).  I am now obsessed with figuring out the fat and carb content of meals.  I mean, the other day it was the Pioneer Woman show (she lives on a cattle ranch) and she was throwing in STICKS of butter, and CUPS of flour, and just loads and loads of stuff and I was thinking in the past I would eat two biscuits and now?!  Can you imagine what that would do to your daily menu?!  Tracking makes me hyper aware just how TERRIBLY I ate before.  Oy.  Not a pretty thought.

You've got quite a low cal day!

I love those pants!  So cute.  I just bought some colored (bright blue) pants online (they were on sale, sadly b/c I'm tall when it comes to pants I have to do most of my shopping on line), anyways I always just wore boring blue and black pants and now this summer I'm looking forward to throwing in all sorts of fun colors.  I'll actually be dressing like its summer for a change and not like I'm going to a funeral!  I can't wait.

OMG we have opposite problems!  These hot pink pants are ANKLE pants.  And as you can see, they are slightly long on me lol!  I am 5'4".

I am a fan of black pants too...bu****ch out because now I have hot pink pants!

I thought I might wear dresses this summer but I have some serious veins on my legs now that I am losing weight so I don't know about that...

I just got my first Maxi dress from Gwyniee Bee (just a thought b/c they are long).  I am in love and will be wearing it all summer long.  I seriously haven't worn dresses in the summer (as a casual outfit) since high school.  I'm turning into a shopaholic too, but like you I justify it by saying I'm not spending the money on food anymore, so it's ok :)  Lol, I should be putting that money in my savings account or my plastic surgery fund, but it's the first time I"ve enjoyed shopping in years and I'm going crazy.  I blame GB, b/c it's made me like clothes again :)

Amen, Regina...I think the same!  I know people notice because there are two rows of treadmills and I prefer the treadmills in the front row so there are ALWAYS people who can see me.  Isn't it amazing how many calories go into those foods???
