What's on the menu today, RNYers?
OH NO DAISY! I'm sorry you're so sick! It sounds like you're really having a rough time Hopefully all the fluids you're getting in will help flush the grossness out of your system more quickly!
Be well, friend!

Good Morning Everyone!
The contribution I've been bringing to gatherings has been deviled eggs. It seems like people like them and they are super pouch friendly for me, so that might be something to consider. Another thing I bring that I love is BLT bites (my mom's specialty), you core out cherry tomato's, then put a mixture of cooked bacon, mayo, parsley and shredded parmesean cheese into the hallow tomato's (you mix all this together and then just put a small amount in the cored tomatos). They are so good and people usually love them. I've also made it with 1/2 mayo, 1/2 avocado so I get the healthy fats in there as well.
I have no idea what my menu is going to be today. I will be going out to a business lunch and dinner, but I seem to always make really good choices when I go out to eat, so I'm not worried. It's weird, it's like post surgery my brain only registers healthy options out to eat. Pre-surgery no matter what diet I was on, I'd always pick the worst thing on the menu. I'm thankful for that switch in my brain being flipped :)
Hope everyone has a great day!
I don't know, Emily, 2 people have suggested deviled eggs and they do sound like they would fit in with the menu pretty AND are super easy.
Also, now I want a deviled egg!

Ok, deviled eggs it is! I love them and everyone else will too! My grocery store even sells eggs that are already hard-boiled lol. This could be a five minute deal! Awesome.
How funny that I feel the same way. I eat responsibly when I go to restaurants, whereas before I would eat a calzone or a pasta dish or mac and cheese. It was like, how did I go from a free for all to eating some salmon and spinach? It's too bad I couldn't find the in-between before becoming morbidly obese!
You're so right about the inbetween. I won't say that losing weight is easy now, b/c as we all know we fight for each pound....but it's like mentally I am all in on this "journey" and want to maximize these 18 months for everything they are worth. If I would have had that mindset 8 years ago, I wouldn't have needed to take such drastic steps. Still, I think the restriction is really what's helped with changing my thinking. There have been a few times were "old" me reappears, and man the stomach aches and pain I feel if I over do it or eat the wrong thing is so not worth whatever it is I"m eating. That's the behavior modification I obviously needed. Still, it's just really interesting to me, going out to eat and trying to eat healthy was torture pre-surgery (I could write a novel on what "avoiding" the bread bowl did to my psyche, lol), now I love it, somehow I feel empowered by making the right choice.....so weird!
Good morning to everyone from the state of never ending winter here in Wyoming. More snow last night and raining today. I have lived here my whole life, but I'm even getting tired of it and I'm ready for spring to arrive.
Some of my favorite WLS friendly dishes I like to take are a meat & cheese tray, greek yogurt dip w/veggies or chicken breast cubed, wrapped in bacon, roll in a mixture of Splenda brown sugar with cayenne pepper and bake.
I wish I had half the options you have for grocery shopping. No Trader Joes, no Whole Foods, just got a Natural Grocers so I have been able to buy a few things there I had been previously ordering online. One of the weirdest places I've been buying is the gym, they have started to carry Quest bars, PB2 and lots of different protein powders.
Time since surgery: 11 years next month
B: 2 Eggs with cauliflower "hash browns"
L: 4oz chicken breast, Green Giant Just for One broccoli and cheese
D: Low carb enchilada bake
S: Jerky, string cheese and protein shake after workout
E: Trainer/physical therapist is out of town so he left me a 90 minute workout that includes upper body strength training and cardio
W: 24oz down, still working on it
V: Done
1287 Calories, 48 Carbs, 119 Protein
Wishing everyone a great day, hope the sun is shining in your neck of the woods.
Wow! Look at those protein numbers, Jennifer! You're rockin' it!
A 90-minute workout sounds terrifying to me, but go! go! go! I'm sure all that protein and working out is really going to keep you on the road to losing this regain.
Can you sure your enchilada bake recipe?
That's pretty cool that your gym is stocking some WLS-friendly items. I'm sure it makes life a little easier.

Jennifer - what a super sensible yet delicious menu...and to see what you are eating at 11 years out is pretty awesome. When i get the groceries for my shower appetizer, I am buying cauliflower and making "hash browns". They sounds ridiculously good. I am with Anny - share your enchilada bake, please! Aren't we a needy bunch? LOL
(no sun shining here...but I think we do have a lot more heat in DC than in Wyoming, generally!)
Good Day ~
My water intake is low today but I still have time! Vitamins - DONE. It's cold today and my steps are low sssooo I think it's a good Mall night! SHOPPING~ School is nearing the end and all my extra energy has gone into planning functions so my Fitbit was left behind (accidentally) one day yesterday I just didn't look at it, but I'm on schedule for my strength training. Anny - I love water aerobics and as soon as school ends I'm going back!
Deviled Eggs sounds good but those stuffed tomato sound dreamy too! I will stop at Wegmans tonight to look for the Cheese Crisps. I tried once to make them and was a miserable waste of cheese!
Sickness - BOO but I am starting with the scratchy throat too! Praying for all my fellow losers here on the board. Have I mentioned I LOVE THIS THREAD of messages, I learn so much!!!

YAY! I love this thread too (well obviously since I contribute to it, I suppose) but it makes me happy that others find it valuable as well! I hate hate hate when I leave my FitBit home for a day. I mean, I feel like the steps don't count, when obviously just getting the steps in is what is important! But I want them to count. My FitBit even makes me take the stairs more often, because I know it is going to be logged! Ha ha!
I found the cheese crisps over by the cheese section in a little end cap area. I bought like 4 boxes. They aren't cheap but I miss CRUNCH so I pay $5 per box.
Another sickie :( I am sorry - I hope nothing progresses beyond a sore throat. I will be thinking of you and Pam and Daisy and hoping you feel better ASAP!
