Dumping ?
My co-worker gets the "dumps" bad.. she had one bite of something sweet, like a pie.. and she got so sick, she ended up going home. I have not had ANY issues.. but I don't feel the best if I eat something too sweet.. and it makes me want MORE sugar.. so I try to stay clear... I understand it usually affects 30% of the folks that have RNY... I just did trial and error.. go SLOW.. start small, and pay attention to sugar content. I can have any sugar and it does not bother me. But I started off under 10 grams and went to 12 ect.. go slow like I said. Your body will tell you if it is not accepting.
As long as I stick to 10grams or less of sugar I'm alright. But I also dump on fats, carbs, etc. Since I never know what might make me dump I'm pretty strict about what I eat. I also wouldn't tempt fate by raising the amount of sugar I can take to see if I dump. The whole point of the surgery was to use it as a tool. Some people don't dump and gain the weight back if they don't use the first 18 months to change their eating habits. I limit myself most days to just 10grams but on other days I won't eat any sugar. I consider processed sugar to be toxic so I avoid it. If I knew that I could eat any sugar and would never dump, I probably would still stay away from sugar. I'm underweight now due to an AI that I didn't know I had, but even now being told to eat more, sugar and carbs are not part of my diet except for Cheerios.

I haven't dumped, but I'm only 4.7 months out and haven't tested it. I will say that I don't limit fats per se, so I assume they don't bother me.

I use it for cooking. I use a combo of olive oil and butter for sautéing. I did go low fat in the months leading up to and the first few months after my surgery. ( I used non-stick cooking spray at that point )My dietician recommends low-fat, but other than fat-free Greek yogurt, I consume full fat dairy products.
That being said, to start with....stick to what your surgeon and nut or dietician recommend...for now anyway.

I do use real butter and full fats -- although, let me add the caveat that there aren't many things that I eat that require additional fats. For example, I don't eat potatoes (butter and sour cream), bread (butter), fried foods (oils), etc. However, I do use butter to say fry and egg or sauté some shrimp. I also use sour cream in small amounts on taco beef or chili. I use regular salad dressings (I actually make my own) -- and often make deviled eggs that include regular mayo. Keep in mind, the amounts I consume are relatively small. Before surgery, I probably averaged a quarter cup of ranch on a salad -- now I use maybe a tsp… I used to pop at least 5 to 8 deviled egg halves -- now I eat just one. I guess my point is that I do eat full fats but I don't eat a lot of them. I hope that makes sense. Looking back at MyFitnessPal -- it seems I average 23 grams of fat per day.
I am not an expert -- I am only 4.5 months out, so definitely listen to more experienced over me. However, I will say that I haven't "dumped" as of yet.
